at our club we had a guy with a ninco prorace clk straight out the box wheelhopped bad enough to fling out of the slot. pretty much everyone there tried to sort it, tryed everything but it still bounced. the guy took it back got another one and it did the same again. so what im asking is are all prorace clks like this, or was it just a bad batch?

I guess they tried to mimick the real car... that used to 'porpoise' really badly (ie its nose would pitch down then come back up along the straights...) and I'm sure most people will remember the pictures of it at Le Mans when Mark Webber (twice) and Peter Dumbreck's cars flipped at high speed... ouch

Here's a good link to a brief history of Mercedes at Le mans...

The car that flipped was the clr, a special gtp version of the gt1 clk

We had a couple of guys running them a t the club and they seemed really good. Pick of the bunch I guess........

Mine hopped too!
This is what I did to it:
Slot.it axle, Slot.it 28 tooth crown, MB ball bearings, alu Guman rear wheels with NSR Magnetic tires and fixed motor to chassis with strong tape. I run it without mags and it's great now (the motor is quite powerful!).

What is so special about these anyway? They don't have the ball bearings like the Subies, just hard axles, lame paint, lexan interior, and a fast motor? On their website it even shows the same chassis as the standard CLK GTR?

I looked at one today and really don't see the big advantage. On my normal CLK, I trade in an NC-5 motor, did the usual mods for our track and it runs with the best (and it was less money to field the car). Anyone else? is it just another marketing gimmick?

Cheers!

Ummmm....

My model isn't a lexan interior...and has the bearing system in it like the Subie? Plus a slight gear change.

NINCO Pro-Race Mercedes

The body is kinda drab...kind of like some of the Fly and recent Spirit "racing" versions. I guess the clubs that race them want them as plain as possible so they can be painted up easier?

Is there a different version than the one I have here? BTW...silicones do work wonders on this beast

Wow, Harry, I've got to read slower! I read your review and thought you said it had plastic bushings? And missed the photo of the bearing? I don't know where I got the lexan interior bit? I think I need to wait until the afternoon to read reviews, sorry for the confusion.

so basicly you get one and swap the axel, the only benifit is a better motor, and they r unreliable, 2 blew up in one night... all our club race is ninco everything... theyre obsessed, but the application of slot it hubs on the rear will sort it, ninco need to sort thir cars out. or we need someone who can do a wider choice of models slot it dont have enough classes, only a few gts

seingas the rtr sidewinder slot it chassis is out for £25 ill robbably shove it under a gt body of some sort

OR! fix that ninco m3 with it

It´s to bad that so many slot car makers can´t produce cars that works right out of the box. I mean...they do cost a lot of money, at least for me. I think that no one should have to "tamper" with the car before he/she can run it. Don´t get me wrong lads...i like tuning the cars, it´s a lot of fun. But still they should work right out of the box.

What do all of you think about this? maybe i´m a bit to fussy?

Asking an expensive car to run reasonably smoothly from the box is not even a little bit fussy! Cars that don't run reasonably smoothly are badly designed or badly built or have been damaged in some way. If not damaged and hopping badly, then the buyer has every right to complain to the retailer and the manufacturer and, if no satisfaction there, to let others know the problems.

No, no I don't mind you asking, in fact I'm pleased that somebody has asked. I have a Fly Lister Storm A105 with stock motor but has an Overdrive light kit fitted the front wheels are slot it hubs but the tryes were cut in half (thinner) so the wires wouldn't mesh with the wheels, an SCX Subaru 4WD Impreza and 2 Scalextric GT40's-The red 2003 Collectors Club Car and the Gulf #9 1966 GT40. I have a Fly C5 Corvette A544 Speedvision on it's way to me-it's been ordered. I will also be getting a Slot It Porsche, Fly Mercedes Atego Truck and Scalextric Boss 302 Mustang sometime between now and Christmas. I might also get a Scalextric Dallara Indy 2004 Club Car. If you have any questions, either send me a PM or post a reply in this topic. I will be able to answer any questions about the cars I will be getting in due course.

I do not have a prorace version, but I have several Nincos and they have mostly run very well with few mods, usually only shortening the front axle a little. I think that truing and gluing is a pretty standard treatment for most cars. I did have my Ninco McLaren start to wheel hop during tire spin leaving turns the other day, quite badly. It turned out to be the rear of the motor was moving slightly, a litttle CA glue and it was smooth again. I run most of them non mag and find that the Nincos are very well balanced out of the box for this, in comparison to front or sidewinder cars. JMHO
