Hi!

Last night in our club we have an interesting discussion about the ProSlot EVO motors, in particular about EVO 1.

This motor run in the class of NInco NC-1, Cartrix TX-1 and a few more. The cars that usually wins the race are Alfa Romeo 156, from ProSlot with NC-1 fited. Now some folks appear with Scalextric/SuperSlot Mercedes with EVO 1 and the cars are very good, fast and with good braking.

In the Scalextric motors the pinion is at endbell side and the motors EVO1 I know (ProSlot Ref. PS3000) the pinion is at can side. I asked the folks about this and they told me some EVO motors have a double shaft like the motors from Slot.It. Any body have an EVO motor of this type with double shaft? If so what is the ProSlot reference?

Thank you for your help.

that sounds wierd, I have only ever seen NC1's can drive same with evo 1,2,3

now the stock scalex mabuchi is a little quicker also it is endbell drive.

I have never seen a twin shafted motor other than a V12 like you say

Errr... let's see....

This largely depends on track voltage and amperage but, as a general rule of thumb:

EVO 1 = Ninco NC1
EVO 2 = Std Scalex motor
EVO 3 = Just a little shy of a Slot.it V12/2 25k (similar top end - lacks torque)
EVO 4 = Similar performance to the motor FLY use in the BMW M3 + 320i

Those are my findings from my 'real world' usage

I haven`t signed up to that view! Depends on the car and usual conditions but I remember well that Nick at Pendle beat the pants off everyone in Slot tech Porsche challenge and he used an Evo 2.

But not at Phoenix though mate.

I was led to believe that he`d pulled out the best example from a bunch of Evo 2`s he`d tested (being in the position he enjoys at Pendle). You are not casting doubts on a fellow racer Rob surely? Scandal!!

I thought the other secret at Pendle was sanding tyres to camber as those boys are swift around their curves? Good bunch of lads, shame we are not involved in that we had good numbers turning up to away rounds and N Staffs couldn`t fit us all in!

There are Evo motors with the shaft which protrudes from both ends, however unlike the slot.it motors the shaft isn't long enough to fit directly into a Scalextric chassis.

Hi

A few years ago, my son wanted to race his Scalex Sube in a group that REQUIRED an NC1. I took an NC1, made a fixture out of brass tubing that would hold the stack and com in position and then used a gear press to press the drive shaft out the other side to make an endbell drive NC1.
Simple.

Hi

i use ProSlot motors alot, apart from the Evo 1. Evo 2's are good round my home track of Pendle. Although it is usually my priority to get a good handling car before lots of power. With a track like Pendle, a lower power but tuned car would easily win a high powered car with no grip. What separates a good car from a great one has to be the tyres. If they're not round, it's gonna bounce!

Evo 3's are good motors and, Evo 4's are good too, but don't expect it's life to last that long - I found a loss of performance once the motor had done a few events.

Oo, I've got one of those Evo2's with a longer shaft - but they do seem to be a bit rare. Mine is in a Fly Porsche EVO (sidewinder)

As for those very fast Evo 2's that Nick had, there's a story behind them…

And yep, there are certain ways of sanding the tyres for Pendle, mine were sanded so much that there turned into air tyres with a cushion between the middle of the tyre and the rim. Managed a 7.58 round Pendle with them, a personal best.

those Evo 2's...
i believe that a batch was recieved full of some rather fast evo2's. Some of which turned out not to be evo2's at all, but Evo3's with the wrong stickers on. There was also a time when Pendle only allowed Evo 2 motors on race nights, people were therefore buying quite a few and finding the best one.
