I have just bought a new Porsche knowing their reputation for being unreliable but it was cheap (£10), I do think the basic car has potential. I am going to change the gears and fit alloy wheels and a better front axle and rear bearings. Can anyone suggest a better guide and any other suggestions would be welcome, as long as they are not x rated, physically impossible or throwing it away

I think they're quite good if you are lucky enough to get good gears. I think my most used one has had to have the motor glued into the pod, but apart from that is all as it came.

These cars are very nice runners with a bit of work.
As always you can go as crazy as you like, but keeping sensible just replace the bearings, axles, wheels, tires and gears. (Slot. It do specific bearings for the Pro Slots motor cradle).
Depending on were you are running, either the Slot.it deep guide or the standard guide with screw fitting should do the job well.
You will want to fix the motor in with your favourite method, as they are prone to popping out of the mounts

These cars run well once the gears are sorted and the motor retained. Depending on what motor your car has you may also need a motor change, they seem to vary in performance. I think they just fitted what ever motors were left in stock!
You may want to try looking up the motor pod, depending on what sort of track you run on. The pod is retained by a small rubber mount at the front. I have some locked and some left to move a little, each car/ track combination is different.

Great cars

Slot.it parts bin

Screw guide, axles, wide slot.it proslot bearing as above. The 18mm sidewinder gears fit the pod along with the sidewinder pinion.

I am pretty sure for wood track I glued the pod tab to the chassis at the front.

hy, Big T. i bought a porsche 911GT2 £25 new. Ouch! i only got it becaause it was the porno livery with naked ladies draped over it. i havent had it out of the box yet so i cant comment on gears ect. but i will do the first mod to it same as my other cars and thats to cut the guide post down and run a 2mm flanged screw down the guide post. then see how high the chassis sits at the front. if its not low enough, i,ll dremmell the chassis to drop the face of the guide almost level with the chassis, all before its ever run. john

Thanks for all your tips. Well , reports of unreliability are true. Put it on the track last night and with the first press of the controller the pinion split

Most Pro Slots arrive with split pinions! I think Fly must have been using the same pinions for a while! Yet I have heard very few complaints about Fly Pinions! I have had 5 split?

Just choked on my coffee

Worth spending time to get them right, I love these cars.
