Hi there!
Does anybody know why is such long delay in releasing ProX Lap Counter and PitLane? Without Lap Counter digital races are impossible, since there is no way to remember who is first after 10 minutes of race. Is Carrera planning any new features in Lap Counter (maybe connection to PC - much bigger numbers)?
How about new RMS (with IR sensors instead of mechanical switches)?
Thanks for info,
Matevz

I wish I knew. The lap counter was on sale for a week on German ebay but seems to have been pulled from stores.

Its possible they redesigned it, but more likely they found a bug they are fixing. Either that or they had problems manufacturing it.

I guess I won't find one under my tree xmas morning

On the PLUS side, the display has several lines that can simultaneously display data on four cars. The scalectric one has a crappy display that cycles between cars.

On the scalextric website, scalextric have stated that the mysterious port on the side IS to allow connection to a computer/monitor, and they are working on sorting that out. The date for this is even more uncertain than the Carrera date though...

Hi,
release of the Carrera lapcounter may well be in the mid of second quarter, 2005. The source of this information usually is reliable
Anyway, it would have been the first piece of "technology" from Carrera which is not delayed for at least half a year...
In the meantime, there is a guidehole counting (po-x "compatible") time measurement package available at amoslot.de . It is a DOS based software together with a parallel port cable with connected light sensors. With an optional second pair of Sensors, it would even measure the pitstop and display fuel quantities, if the pitsop lane was available...

Cool!
The aftermarket is already starting to take care of us! I guess one advantage of using a mechanical method of registering cars is that aftermerket sensors (and software) may be used. This is great news. I'm 99% sure I will order this!

Do you have any news of when(if) carrera will add braking?? The throttle response and lane change work very well but the lack of braking reduces the skill level of the game and makes the cars less fun to drive.

Well, they do have reasons for it.

Let's see whether SCX and Scalextric will have a time measurement system at that time (up to now, the Scalextric time measuring system is useless because of the non-permanent display).
