Hi!

A stupid question from a newbie: I've just read Swissracers excellent report from the 24 hour race in Verbano. In the interviewsection a lot of the teams say they use Slot.it Zero Grip tyres but :"turned down to 17 mm diameter"...what does this mean? Do the true them or what?

Yep, they are glued onto the rims carefully (choice of glue varies) and then turned down on a tyre truing machine.
Bear in mind this was the set up for a Ninco track and the size would be alot different for other track systems.
Better is to wait fo the step 3 chassis to come out and change to that.
For those not aware of this development, it gives the option to change the ride height of the front wheels.
