ok guys i have just purchased a scalextric SRS Porsche 956 ref C 018

and was wondering out of the box which would be quickest the above or :-

FLY RACING SERIES

NEW TYPE SCALEXTRIC

NINCO

OR WHATEVER just wondering how the SRS would stack up against the modern ranges of cars around the various types of circuit routed/sport/carrera/scx etc

just interested

also what motor is in these baby's in comparison to other brands etc ?

i think there is plenty to go on there for a bit ?

It's an SCX type motor called a "Black Can"
Obviously named before the PC world that we live in today

Anyway, it's pretty quick, but nowhere near the Racing cars even though it has a lexan body and spaceframe chassis.

Might be fun on a routed track with no mags, killer tyres and a killer motor. Probably the quickest out of them all then...

McLaren, correct me if I'm worng, but are you thinking of the SRS2?

IMO, the original SRS's were more like BSRCA cars. Tiny fronts, enourmous backs, slightly weirdo shell. As in, not 1/32 replica. Just a resemblance.

The XJR14 and Mazda 787 were SRS2, which had the spaceframe chassis. They had true 1/32 bodies and more proportianl wheels.

I might be talking rubbish however

Paul, you might get it running better than a standard Ninco with a bit of minor tinkering. Certainly better than a modern scaley without mags.

Both cars shared the same space frame chassis and motor.

SRS1 had tiny alloy front wheels and huge alloy rear wheels, with a lexan body.

SRS2 had regular sized, plastic wheels all round, and a hard body.

Also noticed that some of the SRS1's had pin guides while others didn't...
