Race cars you never heard of

Whilst surfing for unusual race cars I found this...the McCandless 500

I wonder if it had anything to do with Cromie McCandless, he was a Northern Irish Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. His best season was in 1951, when he finished in third place in the 125cc world championship behind Carlo Ubbiali and Gianni Leoni. McCandless won two Grand Prix races during his career.
I've seen him a few times in the TT parade lap they used to do every year bringing out the famous old race bikes of the past, ridden by some famous past racers.

Theophile Schneider. Used to be one running around in VSCC events but, alas, they are rare.

Majola was a French manufacturer that went out of business at the end of the 1920s, along with a number of other concerns that couldn't ride above the economic Depression.

Here's a couple of cars I have never seen, sorry I haven't and details about them, just what's written in the picture.
Cheers,
John.

The Mirage was disqualified from Le Mans, 1982, with a few minutes to go before the race, allegedly for a minor technical infringement, while the Rondeau suffered largely from aero design problems that significantly slowed the car down. Just two more sad automotive tales in the history of sports car racing.

Thanks Trisha, I like the look of them , would be great as slots!

I agree, John. Both are interesting cars, and I suspect that the Mirage would have done well. I've never seen a slot model of either.

Betta & Classic do a vac formed Rondeau. It's not very close to scale as it's designed for BSCRA type racing.

...such a shame they have such a valuable car then bodge this onto the bonnet with a bolt and a couple of nuts...that could have been so much more elegant

Think that the mirage problem was the position of the oil cooler, quite why this wasn't spotted at scrute I don't know, unless it was repositioned post scrute, or quite possibly ACO politics, I'll have a look in the gulf/ Wyer / Mirage book, Racing in the rain.
