Race cars you never heard of

Whilst surfing for unusual race cars I found this...the McCandless 500

I wonder if it had anything to do with Cromie McCandless, he was a Northern Irish Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. His best season was in 1951, when he finished in third place in the 125cc world championship behind Carlo Ubbiali and Gianni Leoni. McCandless won two Grand Prix races during his career.
I've seen him a few times in the TT parade lap they used to do every year bringing out the famous old race bikes of the past, ridden by some famous past racers.

I'd quite forgotten about the Unipower GT. Possibly not many left.

Don't know about survivor numbers, but those that are left seem to fetch staggering prices when they come up for sale. Like 100,000 quid staggering. TBH, if I had 100k to spend on a car, good and historically significant though the Unipower may be, I can think of a whole lot of other things I think I'd rather have, probably with change left over for a GTM or summat, if I really wanted some mid-engined Mini action as well.

Edit: Sorry, my mistake. I remembered the 100k figure from after I'd converted to AUD. Still seems like an awful lot for a Mini engine and some GRP.

Yup. The GTM imho is by far the prettiest of the bunch. See earlier in this thread for photos! At the bottom of the pile looks-wise is the Mini Marcos/Mini Jem. Yuk.
