Another great race night was had on the 19th this month on Dave's track, Stephen, Dave, Ed, Bryan and Tony all made it as did I (Ronan). Paul was due to come but was too worn out after spending the week looking after the Queen! (He was one of the huge number of police on the streets of Dublin during her visit).

Race 1 was Stephen's choice and he went for 1970s touring cars (or similar!)

Stephen was on the yellow lane with a Gom Alfa GTV, I was on red with a Spirit VW Golf, Tony was on blue with a SCX Lancia 037 and Bryan was on silver with a SCX Fiat 131.

The result was:

1. Ronan
2. Bryan
3. Stephen
4. Tony

I was very pleased with this result as the Spirit Golf was a terrible runner out of the box, but the right tyres and sorting out the lose gears did wonders for it.

Race 2 was Dave's choice and he picked Ninco type 4x4's

Dave was on yellow with a Ninco VW Touareg, Stephen was on red with a Ninco BMW X5, Ed was on blue with a Ninco Ford Ranger and Ronan was on silver with a Ninco Bowler Nemesis.

The result was:

1. Ed
2. Ronan
3. Dave
4. Stephen

I was robbed in this one! I was 2 laps up with only 3 or so to go and I got knocked off by someone elses crash. I was gutted I have to say.... Next time!

Race 3 was Tony's choice and he picked SCX SRS2 cars, but we let Bryan run his slot.it 956

The result was:

1. Tony
2. Ed
3. Bryan
4. Dave

Race 4 was Ed's choice and he picked TransAm/muscle cars. Ed, Dave and Bryan used Scalextric Corvettes, while Tony used a Scalextric 1970 Mustang

The result was:

1. Ed
2. Dave
3. Bryan
4. Tony

Race 5 was my (Ronan's) choice and I went for Fly Trucks. I was on yellow with a Buggyra, and Stephen, Ed and Dave in order all used SISU's

The result was:

1. Stephen
2. Ed
3. Ronan
4. Dave

Dave was unlucky in this race, I brought along my slot.it controller to use on the silver lane on the night and the trigger started sticking during this race causing him to crash on nearly every lap. The controller was sorted out after the race but the damage to Dave's race was done...

Race 6, the last of the night, was Bryan's choice and he picked early 60s type Scalextric F1 cars. The order at the start was Bryan (yellow), Tony (red), Ronan (blue) and Stephen on silver

Everyone picked a Ferrari 156, all being identical number 4 cars apart from Stephen's which was of course totally different with a number 3! A marshal's nightmare!

The result was:

1. Ronan
2. Tony
3. Bryan
4. Stephen

The final results for the night were (based on our scoring system of 4 points for 1st, 3 points for 2nd, 2 points for 3rd and 1 point for 4th):

1st Ed with 14 points

2nd Ronan with 13 points (damn that 4x4 race!!!)

3rd Tony and Bryan with 9 points

4th Stephen with 8 points

5th Dave with 7 points

So overall an excellent race night with plenty of drama and hopefully we will have another good race night in my place on the 2nd of June.
