Got a VIP Ferrari 156 body the other week off Bensonuts.
The glass parts & exhausts were all present.
However the nose hadn`t just bent like a banana, it was like a boomerang. This had caused a horrible split on either side of the body.
I originally thought the body couldn`t be saved.
I have managed to get a lot of the "bend" out by using a hairdryer, a little pressure & a lot of patience.
I dare say with a little more effort it may straighten out a tiny bit more.
I repaired & painted the splits to the body. With the car being a deep blue they are hardly noticeable.
I cleaned & polished the body, however due to age there is some slight hazing in parts.
The rollbar was missing.
As no repros are available I used a 1/40 scale Jouef F1 car as a donor for this. The rollbar on a Jouef car is pushed right down into the body then bent right back, giving a good length of metal. I simply straightened the bar & fixed it straight into the VIP body.
The mirrors & drivers head are repros from BTS Mouldings.
I used a Race Tuned VIP chassis & motor. I married the older metal guide & steering to this. Bit of a mis-match, but works fine.
Car was a nightmare to do, but was well worth the effort.
Cheers,
Kev.

It was a total nightmare Leo!
I`m just pleased I`ve managed to make the front end look like the normal banana shape now!

The bend actually doesn`t look as bad to the naked eye.
Cheers,
Kev.
