Is there an option for users to turn this feature off?

If not, could the list be displayed in sorting-order of most recent at the top?

Recommended reading is definitely still a work in progress. We do have some updates rolling out soon, the first being disabling older posts / threads from showing up. I'm not sure if a sorting feature is in the cards, but I can definitely check.

Just came here to complain about the ancient posts showing up in RR - glad you're on that. Had a post from 2004 come up just now
