Hi all,

First off a bit of background.... I had a few scaley sets when in my childhood and spent endless summers setting up tracks on our garage floor and racing away solo of with my brother and friends. Had a few cars back then.

Fast forward to now and i bought myself the Mclaren F1 Scalextric set. Although i love it i have notice a fair amount of differences. Firstly the track joints. Another one is the cars themselves.

I want to clean the motor and gears from dust but im having trouble taking the bottom off. I took the 2 screws out and i was able to remove the bottom from just under the nose, but the other piece wont budge! I dont want to force it and break it so im asking you guys how do i remove it?

Secondly i have noticed that the guides have changed as well. Back then, it has a push and clip function which comes out with a little force and i can change the braids. These new cars are different. How do i remove the guide (without breaking it)?

Sorry for such noob quesitons.

I have checked the service sheets but most of them seem to be for older models. I cant seem to find one for the 2011 model. And upon looking under the car i can only see 2 screws. one at the back and another in the middle near the nose. I have tried sliding it each way to see if it slides out to no avail. I will try again when i get home from work but unless someone knows how i might be in a bit of a pickle!

Another question aboutt he braids.... In the old days when the braid was worn out, i would just simply reverse them round so the worn out bit is inside the guide and vice versa. Can i still do that today? im looking at the braids and they seem shorter.
