I have been searching for reviews about any of the Team Slot cars. Can anyone tell me more about them and the quality, any tweaking they need and how good they run? I like alot of the cars they have to offer but I would like to hear what others have to say about them before I spend $90 USD on one car.
Thanks.

from the good mouth of Inte:

QUOTE out the box absolutely crap to be honest!
motors are pokey, 4wd motor is better than SCX's effort, guide works well, braids are good, mags (I think your probably supposed to leave them in) wheels need rounding and motor needs glueing in.

I've got a Team Slot Lola B98. Nice car, nicely made and finished but it was virtually a non-runner out of the box. Rear axle/ transmission was awful, sloppy bearings, out of round wheels, scruffy tyres, the axle moved around so much that the gears kept coming out of mesh.
I binned the entire axle and fitted SlotIt replacements and now the car is a rocket. The motor supplied is more powerful than standard mabuchis that you get in most Fly and Scalextric cars, and the car is a star performer now.

Ok this is my experience from the one and only TeamSlot car I own. I may just have got a bad one. But maybe get some spares just in case?

I have a Team Slot Saleen - and it did run reasonably ok straight from the box. It seems to be rather nice in paint and built quality, mechanically everything works without a glitch. It is not the fastest car I have but it is not the slowest either. The tyres that came with the car were not the best for my carrera track (a bit slippery). I have not experienced any real problems at all with the car.

I've got 2 Team Slot cars.
Lancia Delta Integrale "Martini" no: 11202
Alfa Romeo Gulia Sprint GTA "Alpes 66" no:11102

The Delta is lightning fast right out of the box.Nothing much to complain about really....maybe some high transmission noise but

Finish is alright and paint is good.

The Alfa is another story. Transmisson makes a h**l of a noise, crownwheel is not inline with the rest, motor will not rev prperly, guideblade keeps getting stuck....
Since I am an Alfa Romeo "Idiot", I've kept the car on the shelf as a "nice car to rest my eyes on"...

But the other night I could not bare it any more. I tore the car apart and tried to fix it. With LOTS of TLC, I managed to get everything OK...except the engine.
At last I was sooooo frustrated, I took my 5-56 spray(WD40 etc...) and sprayed it directly into the engine to see if it would respond...no change at all.
Sprayed the engine afterwards with some electronic cleaser and left the car alone for almost a week. After I tried it again after my "abuse", the engine revs as mad and now, finally, the cars i SOOO much fun to drive...(I've only had it for a year

In my opinion, the cars are not ready to run from box...you need som tlc before you use them. They look great in my opinion...that's why I bought mine in the first place
BUT I haven't found another make yet that does some of my favourite cars; Lancia Delta, Alfa Romeo,

I have two, the Nissan 360 and Tthe Jagermeister Simca 1000.

Both great cars and good little runners, they are no Fly Vipers but they will run well against similar cars made by other manufacturers.

The Scimca is a Hand painted Resin shell which has a lot of charm, don't expect Fly/Scalex finishes cause you won't get them.

I love them, and would buy more if they made the type of car I like.

Regards

Wow, quite a bit of mixed feelings on these cars. I think I may just wait and try to find a cheap one on Epay and see how I like it. I do like the cars they offer but it sounds like they ask too much for them if they need as much "tinkering" as some of you have mentioned.
