A few years ago there were several very nice scratchbuilt slot cars for sale on ebay by a very talented person called Richard Housego. I was very lucky to get a nice Alfa Romeo, Tony Condon got one which may have been a Honda something or other, I can't remember what exactly. And there was this wonderful Morgan, with, I think, a K's motor driving a big rear wheel. I really wanted to know how it was constructed and how it ran but my attempts to contact the buyer proved fruitless. Darn it the buyer must check this forum!
Are you out there???
Please post some pictures!
I'm mostly interested in how the body's made.
Cheers,
Tom.

Tom,

I cannot remember the cars you mentioned but I think that Phil Smith (scaleslotcars) made a Morgan (I think!) a couple of year ago that I think is better that the one in the picture in your post. Perhaps he has some information that might help.
(If I am having a "senior moment" and I have it all wrong, please forgive me one and all.)

Cheers,

Philip

I remember seeing photos of Phils Morgans. He did a gorgeous job on those and could have sold a lot more than 5 but they must have been hellish fiddly to make what with the non-standard chassis.

As for this one, the body looks like it's made from some kind of card? I'm just curious about it, I think it's a great little car.

I think Mr. Housego is still around but living in Australia or Africa or somewhere.

Thanks Peter for posting the photo, I had that one but lost it.

Cheers,
Tom

If anyone wants more info on the Morgan I did here is a link

Morgan

and here is a picture

I only ever make five of my production scratchbuilt cars for the reason that I get bored with making them after that many! and that's the truth, don't know how Slot Classic etc. make hundreds of each model!! It'd drive me crazy

Here's a Morgan I bought from a friend a few years ago. I think this had been through Phil's hands at one point, and he told me he could never get it to run right! The chassis layout looks a bit like the one above, but with an MRRC split 6 pole and bevel gears. The body is painted metal, non-magnetic, so I assume aluminum (epoxied together, not soldered). The motor is attached to an MRRC steering unit and there's a screw through that into a wood block glued to the body. Can't see any rear attachment, but assume there is one!

Hi Tom,

I don't know if you are still looking for information on the 3 wheel Morgan, but I knew I've seen detailed photos of the mechanism, click here
On page 8 you'll see Philsmith chassis build for his Morgan, brilliant.

Danny

Yes there it is! Thanks for the link, isn't it great?
I wonder if Phil could be persuaded to do another run of these cars?? I mean, it's been a while now...
I'm sure there'd be lots of takers!

Strange you should say that, a short run of five new cars is very near completion, pictures will be here soon and cars for sale exclusively at Slotmania this weekend.

Here's a little teaser
