Somewhat race-scarred:-

(For younger members of this forum - Carroll Shelby & Roy Salvadori won the 1959 Le Mans in a "streamlined" Aston Martin DBR1/300. He also won at Goodwood helping Aston Martin to achieve the 1959 World Sportscar champions. He also drove for Aston Martin and Scuderia Centro Sud in their Grand Prix cars.

Another historical note - Prior to is run in the 1964 Le Mans the Shelby Daytona Coupe was tested at Silverstone, this was felt insufficient due to the lack of a long straight and the team therefore introduced a number of high speed straight line tests on the nearby M1 motorway (unofficially) running at speeds of up to 185mph. The British Press's outrage at this lead to Parliament introducing a temporary 70 mph limit - which is still with us).

Hi Guys
Yes a sad day ,the man was a true legend ,if only because he is one of the few to tell enzo that he would have his a*se and then ACTUALLY DO IT !
Had the honour to meet him down at haynes cobra day a few years ago ,and he gave a great speech after dinner
With his health problems (he was already taking angina pills while he won at lemans) it is a testament to his courage aND duralbility that he lasted this long
RIP

Cheers tony

dont have any cars but always thought it was a shame that Elanor was never made in slot car, i know its a bit "stereotypical" of the movie etc but that car, the rumble from the exhaust, the looks, everything, just perfect and a fine example
