Rockingham Slot Car Club are pleased to invite entries for our "Trés Petit Le Mans" Oxigen digital event.
The date for your diaries is the weekend of November 27th-28th.

As the name of the event suggests, we will run to DiSCA Le Mans 2020 Rules but for only 8hrs not 24.
This Event will include periods of "Twilight" and "Night" running so make sure your cars have lights brighter than candles please guys.

The event is open to teams of 2 or more with a maximum of 14 teams.
Rules can be found at www.officialdisca.com

Classes...
LMP1, LMP2 and LMGTE.
As per the 2020 regs, cars represented must have competed at Le Mans during the following periods.
LMP cars 2010 - 2019
GT cars 2015 - 2019
Authentic Le Mans Liveries Please.

Handout Tyres...
Each team will get 2 pairs of N18 and 1 pair of F22 tyres (correct at time of posting) to be used in Qualifying and the Race.
To clarify, you do not have to use all 3 pairs but you MUST use both compounds during the Race.

Handout Motor...
Each team will get 1 handout motor, either a Slot.it MX16 S-Can or a Slot.it MN09CH Flat 6.
Teams will be asked which motor they require nearer to the event.

Firmware...
As with our last event teams are responsible for their own Firmware Updates and ID settings.
We believe this way of doing things worked well with very few queries.
If you have a prefered ID number, maybe the same 1 as used at our 6hr event a couple of weeks ago, please tell me.

Entry Fee...
£40 per team and entries will be confirmed on receipt of an initial deposit of £10 which can be made via paypal to [email protected]
NOTE In the event that Rockingham has to cancel the event due to any Government imposed restrictions payments WILL BE REFUNDED.
Payments made by any team that "No Shows" WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
Entry fee remaining balance of £30 per team should be paid on the day.

A full timetable will be published when it has been finalised.

Let's finish what has been a very strange year with a bang!

As usual any questions please ask.

Thanks Wayne entry noted (y)
There's a distinct lack of LMP1 or 2 entries so far?
A few teams expressed a wish for a full WEC field when asked at the end of the last event so hopefully this will change.

I think you'll be ok Nik, Sportscarazing's team captain does not go with the nickname LMP without reason.
But might be that Rockingham has finally retired their venerable Toyota TS 030 and the TS 050 still not up to scratch

regards

Entry filling up nicely now with 9 Teams, 5 spaces left to fill.
It'd be really good to see some LMP class entries though? Depending on numbers for LMP1 and 2 we may just run 1 single class to cover both as the motor options, widths and weights are the same?

No you may not, as they are different classes, different in performance and motor orientation.

GT's are popular in both 1/1 as 1/32nd events. but I'm sure that with 5 open places more LMP's will follow.

With kind regards

Just to elaborate on LMP class balance, P2 cars are balanced against GTs but will be disadvantaged against a P1 car because although they are dimensionally identical there is one key difference; downforce.

In the specific case of the RBR we know that a good P2 can be quick enough to win overall due the nature of the circuit, which offered out less of a penalty to an inline chassis than a more twisty track might do, but that was before you guys changed the layout ;) Not that it was any twistier for the July GT race but it was significantly faster due to more open corners. A high downforce car, ie P1, would benefit from this over a P2.

At the end of the day running a category “Prototype” for cars built to either standard wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it would need to come with an awareness of the above.

I am almost certain that the Sports Carazing entry will not be in GT ;)

Tamar and Gary, the above comments have been noted, hopefully we won't have to go down this route 👍
As we said at the July meeting the changes to the layout are/were intended to be temporary simply to allow racers to get back in the groove more easily. It's a high probability that normal service shall be resumed at the end of November 👍

Good morning Gents
Starting to plan our trip to Rockingham and back and for the return trip a time table or at least a planned end time of the event would be handy. As the duration has now been extended to 8 hrs..will you start earlier or end two hours later?
(makes a difference on whether we'll be able to catch the last Ferry/Chunnel train Sunday night back to the continent)

With kind regards
Tamar

Morning Tamar, we're happy to hear that you can make the trip at last
Your timing for this question is actually pretty good as I am looking at a provisional event timetable in the next few days.
It is likely that we will start earlier and finish late afternoon with the aim of the whole shebang being over and done by around 5.30 - 5.45pm after which our usual crew will break the track down and tidy up.
I hope this helps your plans for now?
A full timetable will be posted as soon as it's finalised.
Cheers.

Hello Nik, thx for the fast reply
Yes having a 18:00 end of event time does help with our planning for the return trip.
Starting earlier would help make us catch the last chunnel home
All we need to do now is solve the problem of how to book the day 2 COVID test in the UK, even though we won't be needing it (Staying less then 48hrs in the UK) we're still required to book and pay for one. That's an extra cost of £50 -90

Do you guys have any suggestions on Howard where to book this at low cost?

With kind regards
Tamar
