For those with routed tracks, can someone tell me how wide the combination of the two braids and the slot are? I think the slot is usually 1/8". Add the braid on both sides and you get what?

Braid is typically used in one of two widths: 1/4" or 3/16" . the home track I am currently building is being done with 3/16" magnetic braid. Commercial tracks mainly use the 1/4" braid.

I use 1/4" but that's just me. Make sure your braid does NOT touch the slot area, it needs to be a touch off of it.

I'm planning 3/16" magnetic braid with about 1/32" between it and the slot (which, yes, is 1/8"). This will position it well, I think for both current plastic cars and also cars which utilize Jet flags and other scratchbuilt cars.
