The proposal is to allow alloy wheels and gears, along with matching bearings and axles on our Fly Classics in future.

The reasoning is that we regularly see failures during racing, and replacement axles/gears/wheels are practically unavailable now, so it is becoming more difficult to keep these cars running. Fly seem to have moved to an inline configuration for the new classic models, so it's unlikely that replacement components are going to come back on the market. It's a popular class, and many of us have a number of cars, so this would be a way of maintaining the class.

The requirement to use realistic wheel inserts would be maintained (and for tyres not to be outside the bodywork when viewed from above).

My objective would be to keep this as a separate class. If we just merge with Fly Classic Plus, the dominance of Slot.It and NSR cars means that no-one runs the Fly cars, and we would just see the end of racing these cars.

Yes Matt, the intention would be to retain the same gear ratio, i.e. 11/36, and the same tyre rules. The only change that is proposed is to allow alloy wheels and gears, with suitable sized bearings and axles, to replace the original axle assembly.
