RX41 into NC5

Hi,

This is my first post, so I hope it's not one that everyone reads and gasps, 'D'oh, how can he not know that...'

Anyway, I've a Ninco Clio with an NC5 Speeder motor. Nice car, but the club I go to only races RX41's. - Is it possible and easy to mount an RX41 in my Clio?

I have no access to anything beyond basic domestic tools, so would appreciate guidance along the lines of buy this adapter or that plate etc rather than having to make anything.

All help much appreciated!

Really!!

I didn't think it would! Not that I've tried, of course! But the brackets supplied by Ninco for the original Clio for the NC2/5 motor and the SCX motor are different.

I didn't know that, McLaren! Got a part no. for that alternative chassis by any chance? And have they done alternative chassis for any of the other NC2/5 motored cars? That could be the answer for Buddha, if they do it for the Clio (New type-with suspension).

To try and summarize for you Buddha;

I was assuming you were talking about the latest Clio (with suspension), and if you are, you definitely can not fit the RX4 SCX motor into your existing chassis, as Mclaren points out.

If you were actually referring to the original Clio (NC1 fitted via a motor bracket) then you can buy an adaptor bracket, part no. 70106 " suplemento motor especial", and click your RX4 straight in. As you said you have an NC5 motor to replace, and if you are talking about an original Clio, you would already have experience of changing the motor bracket.

Hope we're finally getting somewhere

Unfortunatly, they dpn't do this kind of chassis for any of the other new cars.

Interesting! I wonder why they did that? I see that according to Sean's site 80836 is also a Subaru chassis which accepts the motor brackets-Prorace perhaps. It would be good if they did similar for Saxo, Punto, Mini and Clio as we run Ninco hatches with RX4s in at Farnham and it would help introduce a bit of variety.

And CG, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is fitting a 16D in a Caterham!
