Sadly passed away

It is with a heavy heart and much sorrow that I have to advise of the recent demise of a true gentleman in the slot

car racing world - Ron Downe.

Until a few months back he raced whenever he could at the Eastcote Scalex Club (that uses the Stanborough-SSC

track as its base). Due to the current pandemic and other issues there was a delay until a member of his family

finally managed to contact me and let me know that he passed away peacefully at a Care Home in Chichester

just over a week ago.

It was not due to Covid19, but a combination of old age, a heart problem exaserbated by cancer that he battled through

during the last year which took a massive toll on his health.

The thoughts of all Eastcote and Stanboro club members go out to his friends and family.

Sir, you will be sadly missed by all the people you raced with at Eastcote and all the other clubs you once raced at.

R.I.P. Ron Downe
