Hi,
I was looking up some information for Early Bird GP cars in my old Model Maker magazines (I just knew there had to be articles on the Lancia-Ferrari and Bimotore in there somewhere), so... since I had to look through them all anyway, I made up an index of all the scale plans from the early 50s to the last Model Maker in March 64.... I already had indices from Model Cars and the US magazines, although these are not on disk. ..

Anyway, I now have a file (in .doc table form) of this information if anybody is interested, and can photocopy or scan info if you're not in a hurry. I also indexed some of the main articles, but not systematically.

Quick question: in March 1958, as rail racing really became established, the plans began to state they were in actual 1/32 scale. What were they before? They seem about 1/32, but not exactly, and it kind of varies according to the car involved....

cheers,
Don

Great Don, that saved me some time!
This was something I was gonna do during the holidays when I had a spare 10 minutes, as there is not much going on business wise.

I have the list that Russell posted here a few weeks ago, which you did, for the Model Cars plans.
Can you post the list here for the Model Maker ones?
If not, you can send me the .doc file and I can post it here for others.

Now all you need to do is the Miniture Auto plans

Well, that's up next Phil! Nothing like facing a project with real work involved to suddenly make indexing seem like fun....

But I didn't realize that Greg (VSRN) already had these all on disk, even though he probably told me... and Mark G never ceases to amaze me.... Thanks for heads-up Phil K.

Anyway, will be sending the file off to you as soon as I find it and your email - index is kind of incomplete since I was torn between doing a fast one for the plans, and a more complete one with pertinent articles (I happen to think a Lindsay-powered rail car is VERY pertinent).

I didn't see that Russell had posted the list, but that wasn't me - it was Malc Parker who sent me that many years ago. I think it was on an Amstrad or something, so he no longer had access to the disks! - did Russell retype everything, or scan it?

The plans should print O/K but as you are having trouble try this. Download the plan then insert it as a pic into a word document then print the document. I have used this several times to print the plans the correct page size as they were originally published.

Hi Don,
The early rail cars were 1/32 scale, as I have had both original cars and bodies.
The four wooden bodied, brass chassised copies of Walkden Fisher's Mercedes will be used at next summer's anniversary event for the first time. So you will be racing one.

Best wishes,

Jeff
