Two days of digital BTCC action at the Hornby Visitor Centre. Test your skills in a series of intense races to claim the title of touring car champion!

Venue

Hornby Visitor Centre
Westwood Industrial Estate, Margate CT9 4JX

The circuit will be a two lane replica of Brands Hatch with working pit lane. It will be set in the HVC "make and paint" room which will provide ample space for paddock and pit boxes. Races will be run using ARC Pro with Scalextric ARC Pro wireless throttles (supplied).

Event Format

Saturday 24th august - Arrive and Drive Day (magnets)
Race for prizes using equally prepared and shared scalextric BTCC cars. No equipment necessary! Simply register, turn up and drive.

Sunday 25th August - Owner Driver Day (non-magnet)
The ultimate test for drivers seeking BTCC glory! Prepare and race your own car against others to claim the top spot.
Both days will run identical schedules which include a warm-up, qualifying session and three separate races, split into groups, with a step-up mechanism. Race three will be a reverse grid for the top ten drivers. Points collected from each race will determine the overall positions.

FINALLY!!! Well done Gary for organizing this.

It sounds the perfect digital event to help Scalex promote their ARC system.

And I love that you guys are going to use the P6. ;-)

Any chance to show the track plan here?
Thanks Gio. This is the plan, but the curved LC may or may not come to fruition. In the case of the later a straight XLC will replace them leading into the corner.

Nice layout Gary.

How are you going to use the pitlane?
I'm so tempted to sign up for this!

I think some international drivers would be a real fillip for an event like this :)

Pitlane most likely wont be needed for the length of races we are having, but as always, where the car must enter or exit the track.

So far we have three entries for Saturday and one for Sunday :)

Hornby are slightly behind with their own promotion, but I expect this to occur within the next week or so. There are other events of their own during the summer which also demand their attention!

Looks like a good event and good to see the manufacturer supporting it

Nice to see the local track is being used for it also

A bit too far away for me to justify coming and doing sprint racing with BTCC though.

Best of luck to all those competing over the weekend.

John
The BTCC format shouldnt be underestimated! Weve spent a very entertaining twelve months developing our own version at WHO/digital with RCS64 and I think it transfers nicely to ARC Pro. Yes, it is different from a long endurance race, but so is a real 3-race BTCC weekend, which is what each of these days at Margate aims to replicate.

Will you be using success ballast Gary?

Yes we will have success ballast, but there won't be any tyre choices.

Another difference to the WHO digital format is that we will reverse just the top ten for race 3.

Hi Ade, We are set up for 22 drivers each day
Hi Gary

could you tell me what time this event stars on Saturday as there is no time on here or on the Scalextric site ?

plus could you tell me the schedule of the day to please ?

regards ade.
Here's a rough schedule for both days. It's fairly conservative so there's a chance that if everything goes smoothly we could finish ahead of time. Alternatively, if people prefer they could use any down time to explore the visitor centre.

10:00 Doors Open
10:30 Driver's briefing

11:00 Practice in groups
11:30 Qualifying in groups

12:00 RACE ONE, two step up
Groups: A B C D E

13:00 Lunch break

14:00 RACE TWO, two step up
Groups: A B C D E

15:00 RACE THREE - top ten reverse grid, two step up
Groups: A B C D E

16:00 Award Ceremony & end of proceedings
