Scalextric Sport Digital has hit the retailers.

The first product available is the set with the following content:

Lane Change Challenge Digital Set (C1140). This digital set enables up to 6 digital cars to run on two lanes. It can be used in conjunction with existing Scalextric Sport track sections and it's contents include: 2 x Racing Curve Crossover Point Change tracks, 1 x Transformer, 2 x Hand Throttles, 2 x Porsche Boxster.

Pendle announced it in another thread but I thought it needed its own fanfare.

Yeah - I picked that up from the thread, and after talking to Sean the day before, he said release date will be in about 2 weeks. I've just seen them on Pendles site as availible...

As yet Im still waiting for the phone call to go to Pendle and fetch my set plus the 50 meters of track.....

However - patience is the key..... If I havent heard anything by next Monday..... Im going round....

Im very suprised that Scalex havent announced there availible.... there site is really frustrating, due to the slow updates...

CoolS

PS - I have edited this to hide my stupidity....

QUOTE (Maltese @ 9 Nov 2004, 18:34)Are lap counter/timing bobbles for a party of 6 part of the standard package?

Lap counter is part of the set... its all in the base station, however if you want to run more than 2 cars you need to purchase extra controllers and cars... but yes all the other items are in there to support 6 racers.

CoolS

Edit..... you need an extra power pack to run 6 cars... I forgot that bit.

last I read and heard on the subject the answer is - they don't know what sort of LCs they will make next (different radii, on straight?); they will see what the demand is like.

They definately have no plans to make it more than 2 lanes

They are strongly thinking about a pit lane.

I only asked because I like the way the DaVic is done in a 4 or 8 lane. Here you use the lane 1 and 4 or 1 and 8 for de-railed cars so that they don't interfer with the racing cars.
So I would demand Scalextric to go for minimum 4 lanes.

I think this will depend on how they implement the pit lane, if they make one that is.

I'd like to see the addition of single lane track as well as a pit lane. This would then allow you to have a pit lane lead in, plus you could use the same track pieces to add a third lane where ever you want.

I'd probably add a two to one lane section as well, so you could have single lane sections on circuits and use it for rally circuits.

Personally I think 3 lanes would be plenty, but I agree I would like it if there were more than 2 also. Just because there are no plans does not mean they won't do it - especially if a lot of people want it! But since these things will be a digital add-on, there is not much point making them till a lot of people have bought digital sets to which these accesories can be added!
