Hi all

Just in case you missed Richardtheforth's post in "Bargains" here's one not to miss if you're thinking of going digital. Link
- £12 p&p to France (& Europe?).

Cheers,
Chris
PS I don't have any shares in Amazon ... yet!

It is a £500 set, those prices were incredible and I would think that we won't see them again.
Steve, I bought that set from Play and I've a feeling that they don't actually have any stock as my order is still awaiting

but the amazon seller is actually modelzone, and a quick check on their web site

Modelzone

shows the price in store is £399 too.

I know before Christmas they had a booklet available which had a 10% voucher inside for use in January, but I think it didn't include sale items.

Rob.
At £300 these sets were a steal, I worked out that the contents would be at least £700 to buy separately. Even though £300 at this time of year is a lot of money still had to grab one, for the cars and a few spares.

Rules with Scalextric is buy the biggest set you can afford as this is the most cost effective way of starting out.

Doubt you find this for £300 again this year, but you never know with Amazon, maybe next xmas

However worth remembering that the price fluctuates on Amazon depending if they are selling it or a third party. http://www.camelcamelcamel.com/ can be used to monitor prices and there is an add-in if your use chrome as your browser.
Thanks for the replies guys - much appreciated.
I did see the £399 price at modelzone but that is more than I'd pay (despite fully appreciating its value!) at the moment.
Thanks TR7_Driver, I've put a notice on it at the camelcamelcamel site.

Let's see...

At £350 this is a good buy, it must be to pay the shipping to Oz, still watching Amazon to see if they will repeat the £300 offer.
Now out of stock at the Modeller, so looks like a few people have done their Christmas shopping early!
Says £429 now

The offer was on all day yesterday, and indeed if you do a google search today, you can see it still listed at play (as £300)... I was umming and erring about it last night. THANK GOD I PRESSED THAT BUY BUTTON BEFORE I WENT TO BED!

But indeed the offer seems to be over. It was with a company called GeorgeandFreddie and when I bought it, it said there were at least 5 available. Wish I'd bought more than just one now! I would have been happy to have sold them on for a token gesture more to other folks here so we'd both be winners!

Did anyone from here buy one while the offer was on?

So I guess at £299.99 it's a bit of a bargain really, at current comparative prices at least.

6 cars @£20, 6 DPR chips @£13, APB @£150

2 XLC free
6 throttles free
2 PSU free
all track free

I maintain it is a bargain at £500, £300 is ridiculous.

Of course, I better not speak too soon. It's entirely possible they've now removed offer as it was a mistake, and the company (dealing under play.com) will refuse to complete the transaction!
Still at Costco for £330 as I saw loads of them there on Wednesday, so the trade price can't be far off that.
Is that including VAT. ?

As Cosco normally add vat at he till
I bought a slightly used one on eBay last week for £280 + shipping.

£300 brand new a amazing
Hopefully be some bargains come Jan as stockiest look to shift unsold stock, I will be in the market for one at £300, got the Amazon watch on.

Well, I have a huge box in the hallway, so the offer was good and they fulfilled it
