After the months of waiting my Ferrari 2004 has finally arrived!

I don't want anybody to take this the wrong way because the car looks great and I am delighted to finally have a Scalextric F1 Ferrari car BUT. . . .

We have probably been spoilt with the recent Scalextric F1 releases but for me this car doesn't 'quite' hit the spot. As an avid F1 and Ferrari fan I have a very clear image in my mind of what a Ferrari F2004 looks like and for some reason this model doesn't capture that.

Firstly the barge boards are all wrong. The second section doesn't come low enough and the red line doesn't join up with the first section? Sloppy?

The front seems to be far to high off the ground and the front wing is definitely well above the correct height.

The air intakes are missing the familar grill we see in recent Scalextric releases so you can see all the wires and supports inside the side pods?

Overall the car looks fantastic but after all the hype and build up I was expecting something spectacular and for me this car falls just ever so slightly short.

I would be interested to hear what others think.

One thing has been puzzling me about the new Ferrari's - they appear a bit smaller than the renault and williams. The wheelbase is 2mm shorter, the car is 3 mm shorter. I wondered if this was because the 1:1 cars differed in size - and indeed the real Ferrari has a wheelbase of 3050 instead of the 3100 and 3140 of the other cars.

A bit of measuring and calculations to double check - and it looks like the Ferrari is spot on scale wise at 1/32 - but the williams and renault are 1/31.5.

right, excuse me while I go and count the rivets on the engine casings...

I agree that the car looks fantastic, the ferrari that is.

I bought one a while back and was pleased with the look of it.
However on the track after the magnet is removed is another story. It's awful to drive.
It's the rear tyres that are the problem ,no grip, even afer a lot of truing.
I changed rear tyres in the end with tyres off my older mclaren.Mega difference.
Now the ferrari is faster than all my F1's.
The car itself is fine.Good motor and chassis, just carp tyres.
It's a shame cos the stock tyres look good on the car.

Come on scalextric sort out your compounds.
