Most modern slot cars come with magnets.
Nothing stopping you fitting your own magnets to older cars, apart from maybe space inside the chassis!
As with the pinion gears, they are available from good model shops.

the proslot ps6001 mag will normally superglue onto the bottom of anything, glue it straight under the back axel

doing this on one of those £10 single seaters gives you a superbly fast car - that isnt easily breakable
