Sorry, it's not the 2004 car... You should know that!!

It has flat sidepods, the 2004 car has rolled under sidepods like the 2004 Renault and the 2003-4 Ferrari.

McLaren

EDIT: It's also running on Bridgestone tyres!

EDIT2: I've emailed him and told him to change it... He also only had one for sale so I would have been skeptical.

OOOPS!!!

Just looked at the picture of the 2004 car on Slot City and it turns out that infact the above is the 2004 car.

Or rather a remould of the old car with Michelin tyres on it. It doesn't look anything like the 2004 car. Nice one Scalextric...

The last NSCC Journal said that there would not be a new mould for this car and that the 2004 livery would be on last years model.

Also said their wouldn't be a Sports model - this priviledge would be for the walrus nosed Williams.

Well cheers Scalextric...

If it's just going to be a relivery (new tyres and a few sponsor changes) don't bother... Who wants a walrus nose Williams that doesn't even race anymore when you could have a state of the art McLaren?

Bah... I'd say you've lost another customer Hornby, but I don't buy from you anyway...

Just spoke to Getslotted and the 2004 Mclaren is out !! - yet Kimi has sold out ! - bum , anyway also the Sport Version has been cancelled.

As I wanted it for Wednesday had to resort to buying the Kimi 2004 of ebay (different seller to that).

Also McLaren - I know what this years Mclaren look like (as you pointed out) - the one in that pic IS the 2004 Scalextric Mclaren (mainly the same but new nose) and IS on Michelin tyres (your mother warned you it would affect your eyesite).
Take a look at this pic from another auction - it clearer.

It looks pretty good and if thats the best 2004 Mclaren I can buy - thats the one I am getting !

Well the front wing, rear wing, sidepods and bargeboards are wrong, so it's not a 2004 to me... but if you're happy with it then go for it.

True the tyres are Michelin (they are very blurry on the first pic and I was kind of expecting it from Scalextric).

"yet Kimi has sold out !" - That's 'cos he's the man

"As I wanted it for Wednesday " - Does this mean you've found a club up there?

To recap for everyone that missed this news earlier in the year....

Initially Scalextric planned a new car for the McLaren F1 and a relivery for the Williams F1. As they normally keep Sports Editions to new cars, this meant a Sport Edition of the McLaren F1 but not for the Williams F1.

When the cars were launched for the 2004 season by the F1 teams, the changes to the Williams were more 'obvious' than the McLaren. So Scalextric changed them round - a relivery of the McLaren F1 and a new car for the Williams F1, which meant a Williams F1 Sport Edition but not a McLaren F1.

Of course, Scalextric then got caught out when Williams F1 decided to drop the new nose cone which had started it all in the first place.

The Scalextric McLarens are now available with the Williams due in December.

Though to confuse things even further, the Scalextric Formula 1 set has a Williams in 2004 livery but on the old 2003 car. This car is only available in the set.
