Its a pity that you are unable to reduce file sizes for video in the same way that you can for images.

PS to remind folk I live in an area without broadband and I don't happen to live in a thatched cottage somewhere on the Isle of Wight. If I did however broadband no doubt would be available!

Video files can be reduced in size, but it takes more processing than stills and the image quality and or picture size reduces. These are already quite small picture size and might become unwatchable if compressed any further.
How about leaving the files to download while at work?
That's what I used to do, with the PC on line 24/7.

I heard someone say 56 K the other day. Unheard of here!
My Kbps dail up can be as low as 19.6. I just about have to back the Ute in and hook up jumper cables to the computer.

Oh while we are talking houses, does anyone else get in trouble for riding their motorcross bike through the house? seemed a perfectly rational move to me at the time!
