Oh, looks like we owe the two-wheeled one an apology, didn't he say they had something big to announce? If only he didn't spout nonsense so often I could take some of his declarations more seriously.

Backwards compatible, kinda. That's going to win them sales and no mistake.

Hmmm, so the set only has one lane changing piece? Sounds like a recipe for some carnage.
Getting little snippets of future releases is your forte, Mope. Predicting the future is not.

Glad to see you've not made a New Years Resolution to make sense!

With our club the number of available marshalls for a race is of primary importance. If everyone is on track then racing is not as much fun.

Hornby know where their bread is buttered and that is with the home racer. This product, like all of theirs, is really aimed at your friend UK Johnny, his Dad, his best friends and his uncle. All of whom will shortly be able to pootle about on the same size two lane track they've always set up in the front room.

Of course, if the side-effect of this tomfoolery is the death of magnets then count me in!
An interesting read and no mistake. And the bulk of the arguments are based on pure speculation!

So here's some more.

Why should home racers, flush with the joy of running six cars on a track feel the need to go join a club? They'll have their own little coterie of drivers. They won't need to go to a cold village hall to experience racing with more than one other car.

The bit about digital that I like, is the irony of having had years of magnets and ever spiralling speeds, the dawn of the new era apparently requires things to slow down in order to cope.

Progress is a beautiful thing.
Firstly, let my just apologise for this post. It's just a load of quotes and reactions but so many pearls were calling to me as I caught up with this thread that I just could not resist.

QUOTE All I'd say is, better that than have me run up the back.

QUOTE ...anyone tried overtaking me on a bend?

I'm forming the opinion that you, Scott, are an inadvertant shunter and that Inte is probably a deliberate one.

Either way, I'd love to see you two on the track and watch your moves.

QUOTE Scalextric Digital will be developed because analogue slot car racing has reached a dead end.

Oh, Mope. What tosh. Were you losing your undoubted enthusiasm for analogue slot racing before digital was announced?

QUOTE It has nowhere to go but sideways.
We talking about Inte's cornering style here?

QUOTE Is there anybody here who is still watching analogue TV?
Me and the Canadians, apparently.

QUOTE Digital has a history of improving all things analogue.
Oh, really? What happened to Hornby's first foray into the digital world? What was it called again, Zero 1?

QUOTE It all seemed to run very smoothly on that SCX promotion video.
Funny that, I mean, it's not like they are trying to sell you anything and therefore make it look good, is it?

Loving this thread.

Digital speedo's? Hmmm, I kinda loop them in with red numerals on a white background and the rice boys. It's gotta be white numbers, black face and a chrome surround for me. But hey, whatever takes your fancy.

[Edit]
QUOTE The moderators at SCI view Scalextric Digital in a rather more positive way.
Now I stand to be corrected here, but I thought the new owner of SCI had a vested interest in selling slots to folks?

QUOTE And I am also not keen on folk here pointing fingers at the new owner of Slotcarillustrated and saying he has a vested interest in being positive about Scalextric Digital, etc, etc.

Well does he, or doesn't he? Someone correct me, but the owner of SCI is involved in the distribution of Scaley in the US, ain't he? It's a completely fair point if he is.

QUOTE Moderation means moderation...

What's your point? Are the happy chappies at SCI getting their knickers in a twist with what is being said here? I noticed on a recent flypast there that some had turned their scorn on another poor "negative" sap. Bless.

And if you are suggesting that I should tow some kind of party line then let me offer up my Moderator spurs here and now...

[Evil grin]
...before I'm tempted to hack one of your posts, ha, ha!

Russ, glad everything got sorted. Love the link. Will be buying a patch pronto!

Racoon, a voice with SCX experience. Honest, no sarcasm questions here; tell me true, did the SCX cars have mugnuts; and do we know for sure that the Scaley won't have "a sharp chicane in the middle of a straight"

Hmmm, being honest, I think I am knocking digital here because I don't think I want it and think it may threaten the old analogue I know and love. I am an old stick in the mud and I can't help it. I subscribe to 'KISS' and the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' theories. Had I but been born in the early part of the last century no doubt I would have campaigned against the horseless carriage.

Re mugnuts, or magnets as Jexy wishes to have them known as, I thought I had read in this thread that they were going to be consigned to the fridge door by digital. I thought it Beppe who said it - can't be ****** (that you giggling in the back there, Mr American?) to go look see.

Isn't there a swap meet coming up in Milton Keynes that you could take this infernal invention to, Jexy?
