Last week I took a week off work and one of the things I did was to lay a small layout downstairs on the lounge floor. Although I have a 90ft + track in the loft I occasionally build a circuit downstairs with the sport sets I have.
After a couple of days down it started to loose it's flavour a bit, as all smallish circuits do, so I decided to use the jumps that came with the "Italian Job" set. They are very simple to insert and can be removed very easily also. To my amazement they worked extremely well, working not only with Scalextric cars, but Fly, Ninco and SCX. In fact the Fly cars (although we only used Venturi's) seemed to work the best of all. I varied the width of the jump from time to time and found the ideal width to be approximately 6-7 inches. I think with a longer run up wider distances could be achieved very easily.
Has anybody alse had an experiences with these jumps and what distances have you achieved ?
I might clip them into my loft circuit sometime which has much longer straights and try to see how far certain cars can jump.
