Scalextric START track

The topic description says it all really, have any rug racers or plastic fans used the START-Sport track converter pieces to put some R1.5 90 deg bends into their layouts. I am tempted, I like a nice tight hairpin although R1's are often more trouble than the worth. If the R1.5's were 45 degrees I'd be more tempted. I believe the surface finish and traction is similar to Sport track, is this actually the case?
