My kids like trucks, well I'd guess most boys do, and my eldest has taken a shine to the Fly truck I use at the club. So rather than let this continue until the truck gets destroyed, I decided to buy the boys some trucks.
I choose Scalextric as they are cheap, and shouldn't fall apart as fast as some others. I managed to get some new complete truck bodies at the NSCC swap meet, and had all the rest of the bits in the spare bin at home. Only thing I didn't have was some brown loaf magnets.
So I've used a couple of Proslot thin magnets which are the same footprint, and glued them in using 2 part epoxy glue. They have such a low profile that once I had pressed them into the chassis as far as they would go, I was able to put a skim of epoxy on the magnet to seal them in.
Bodies were £5 each, and the rest was all sourced from the spares box. So another 2 cars for the track in Grampy's loft. Now if I could only get a couple of very cheap trailers...
