Back to subject and a quick update:-
The Visitor Centre car was still available at the Hornby Visitor centre earlier today. There may be some going on the web again next week if there are any left after this weekend, but there is no guarantee. The "web allocation" sold out in a matter of hours last week.

For the collectors out there:-
The Visitor Centre cars are all individually labelled on the back of the case with a Gold label with the LE number of the car out of 202.
As this appears to have been manufactured in the 7th week of 2011 along with the second run of Range Presentation Models (number on both chassis is 0711REF01 on my examples) there may be a few more Range Presentation cars appearing as well, now that this Visitor Centre car has appeared. Question for the rivet counters out there, does this mean there are 2 versions of the 2011 Range Presentation cars with different numbers on the chassis as I believe the first batch of 2011 Range Presentation cars were made earlier than week 7 in 2011?

Ben:-
there is a chance you may get a low number, as numbers 1 to 7 were not in stock today and neither was 202.

Anyone thinking of visiting to get this car:-
Dont forget to take your Scalextric Club card if you are a member, and you will get a discount on the car.

Hope this info may be of help.

Cheers,
CB

CB,

Thanks for all that info! Very interesting! Just out of interest as I am a bit of a collecting novice...do cars with lower value numbers or significant numbers such as 202 have an extra collect-ability?

I'll let you know what number I get! Also do you know how many were released online in the initial batch?

Hi Ben,

Lowers numbers can fetch more money on a given day on epay, but they dont usually make a lot of difference unless the collector particularly wants that number. Numbers below 31 for birthdays, the number of the car, or the last number I would say would be the most popular. Also say "007" for a James Bond LE would probably attract more interest. Only last week a Dutch Collectors car (same model, different roof logo LE 42/152) made only £58.75 on epay so why are people paying nearly that for the "Club" version on epay I wonder where thousands surely will be made?

I estimate that around half of the Visitor Centre cars were released online last week but can not confirm that, so there may be some more released next week online. There is no guarantee of that so just keep an eye on your emails if you want to buy another online. Who knows the mysteries of the ways Scalextric cars get released? Check SF regularly I guess!

Hope you get a number you like Ben!

Cheers,
CB

Hi all,

Looks like scalextric.com have more in stock, hope are limited to only 202 as would expect will sell out soon. I bought a couple and have the club car coming like all members but the range car seems elusive as MRE sold out. Like the sound of the 3 on display.............

You guys are spoilt for choice in the UK.

Cheers from down under...........Dom

Just to add on the topic of the range car, only one is presented to each dealer who attends the range preview at the beginning of the year.
These cars will always be the most collectable as they aren't available to the public unless one of the dealers decides to sell theirs (as they frequently do), so a car that is available to the public won't be quite as collectable.
Having said that, will the visitor car be collectable? Well yes, due to the low numbers, but collectability and value depend on how desirable the R8s turn out to be. Are they an investment? To be honest, at that price, I doubt it.

They will only have had 1 in the first place.

Hi All,
I've been trying to apply the Scalextric Club discount code (given in the recent magazine for purchases on Scalextric.com) to this item and get the message:

"The discount voucher that you entered is invalid. It may have expired or you may need to log in to use it'

Has anyone else had any luck using this? I am logged into the site, by the way.
Cheers,
Richard

There's a seller with a few of these on at £299 with best offers. He's sold one for £200. Gulp.
