I have a 'Batman' chase set that included a police car. The car basically quit running (it was always loud). Depressing the trigger on the throttle caused the track power light to dim. With a nudge you might get the car to run a slow lap with the throttle fully depressed. Motor did not seem inordinately hot.

Took the car apart, cleaned, degreased/regreased it, gave it new braids. No love. For $15 I could put a new 18K rpm motor in it -- normally I'd just shelve it, but my kid loves the flashing light bar. Whattdya think...

Also, I looked for another AC adapter/wall wart but hate the idea of spending $25 bucks for a new one. Anyone have a functional oldie they'd like to sell me?

TIA

i would say either the motor is dead, or you have a bad electrical connection somewhere

Does sound like a dud motor... the motor probably has a short pulling loads of amps would be my guess.... probably caused by running the motor at full power against a stationary object... this car has a rather unusual inclined motor setup so not many motors will have the correct length of shaft... (Scalextric W9112) SP Motor 18K RPM for Batman Police Car.... has the pinion with it as well.

Ebay in the UK normally provides wallwarts in auctions at little more than 99p sure the USA must be the same...

If the light went dim on your powerbase then this usually means you have a short circuit.

If it's only this car then check the pickup and braids and the wires to the motor and to the lights to make sure there's no electrical contact.

Thanks to all. I saw no signs of a short and the connections on the car were all good. Felt enough like the motor must be bad that I bought a replacement. I hope I guessed right on the Scaley motor I got from eBay -- I don't have enough cars to have known that the slanted hook up was that unusual. Knowing my (bad) luck though...

So far the cheapest wall wart I can find on eBay in the US is $25 with shipping. But it hasn't been a long time since I started looking. I recalled some you across the pond saying how cheaply they could be found. Shoot it's probably cheaper to pay shipping from the UK right now

Appreciate the help all.
