Hello everyone, my son has just bought a scaley ford escort, I was very suprised to see it has an FF motor fitted. I wrongly assumed only the F1`s had the FF`s. Does anyone know why this model had the FF and not the SP which seems the norm in Saloons?
And are there are any other saloons fitted with the FF?

The FF motor leaves more space for interiors and is also fitted to the new classic Mini and MGB.

The Scaley Brock/Sampson Holden Torana has the FF motor as well, as rogerbass says I suppose it leaves more room for the interiors and the chip as well I'd say.

As does the Mini, which means if you want to run any of them without magnets in stock form you'll need to fill them with lead, which won't fit in because of those lovely interiors...

It is possible to calm them down enough to be driveable (without resorting to a 10k motor swap), but not the easiest job in the world.

If you are allowed to change motors under club or house rules, what's the suggested replacement to make these cars less 'piggish'? Tired of looking at a pair of Toranas sitting on the shelf. But they are way too painful to let them on the track.

Scaleauto does a 10k replacement motor, haven't tried it but apparently it's like an NC-1 in terms of performance. Ideal for pretty much everything that comes with the little brakeless screamer!

Got to say, 10k sounds a little light on for a Torana. Those puppies mixed it up with the big Falcons of the time. The FF motor is probably close to correct on the power scale, the Toranas were a bit overpowered. And the tall and narrow shape will never make for a nicely mannered slot car. It's probably a car that would actually benefit from Choc-ice's wallowing chassis.
