I dont think it will be long before there is a lot of club level scorpius racing. Our group is heading that way...

From a club racing perspective....having the ability for a marshall to manually award a black flag is important. In particular, for rear ending and deslotting the car in front. Will the RMS have the ability for a race steward to easily manually award a black flag. Some things like jumping the start, RMS can detect, but one car crashing another will have to be done manually.

Should a driver not do a pit drive through, lets say it was on the last lap or the driver chose just not to do a drive through, can an adjustable time penalty be added to the finishing time. The RMS will detect that a driver finished with a black flag awarded and add and adjustable equivalent penalty on to the finishing time and automatically adjust the finishing order.

Is this possible? Or something to consider

The only possibilties I see is if the second deslots first place on the last lap etc or someone refuses to serve a penalty, etc. Until a later release, the adjustment may have to be a bit adhoc from racing group to racing group. If the racing group has a system where penalties are applied for deslotting the car in the slot ahead of you, some kind of RMS system would be very handy!!!

I am sure our group will sort out something in the short term.

Cheers Rick.

As long as it works and is easy to read...I am not fussed on how it looks

But if you can keep us up to date with the screen shots that would be sweet!!!

...Just looking forward to it!

Rick,

Do you think there will be a high frequency of collisions like that? All good to be done automatically though.

The rear end shove and deslot is where most of the collisions will be at obviously, I still think a manual award of a black flag would be handy...and if anyone finishes with a black flag or two next to their name then the system automatically adds a time penalty for each flag to their finish time.

Rick,

On the difference of opinion and disputes regarding incidents....fair call. We have had a fair bit of discussion in our group as to how the rear end collisions could be managed, but in reality, it will be very difficult to keep the peace..and it will be a damned if you do penalise and damned if you dont penalise.

We will try to push the hard but fair racing....try to avoid the rear end shunt in the first place. A courteous way to me is to pull in pits on your own accord and serve your own drive through if you know you caused someone else to crash.

How were the cars off the start line etc with the jump start / black flag function in your trial run on the weekend? Did everyone get away cleanly?

As always, good to see it coming along.

I havent played with my system yet....so if you could take that into account when I write this.

It is most likely people generally have more chipped cars than controllers. So when guests race, it is possible to have enough cars for everyone...but not enough controllers. Is it possible to assign actual cars (ie chips) to people on the RMS...but when it comes time to race, the RMS automatically matches a person (with their own car) to a random controller. You still have issues with customising controllers to an individuals likings etc but at least everyone can stay with the one car.

Ultimately I intend to have a controller per person... I currently have 5, soon to have 6...but ultimately want about 10 when money permits. It really is when 'guests' out weigh the number of available controllers.

Hooch,

There are obviously a large number of formats that could be used to run a night... However, being a dirt speedway fan, the world of outlaws sprintcars and latemodels is a great format and one that I try to model (manually) as it caters for a) large numbers and
an unknown and variable number of entrants.

But like I said, there are so many ways that the rms that it would be almost impossible to keep everybody happy.

I know it's each to their own in race setup and management, and itis great to have a broad range of features to cater for all formats - but I just can't figure out why people would count laps in digital. With such accuracies in timing systems, why use a system that can measure to 0.1 of a lap at best, when you can qualify, race distance ( set number of laps) and measure to 0.001 seconds.

Each to their own though.
