Do you have pace cars activated and only one dongle?
Try to restart PC if you didn't before.
Is there another program communicating with the dongle?

No other ideas so far. Sorry

NO pace car turned on. I have 2 dongles only using one at a time for right know. tested both and are working.

I don't see any other programs using th dongle.

Seams to me awhile back there was some issues with RMS crash?

I'll wait till tomorrow and if I don't get any other suggestions, I might uninstall and reinstall RMS.

Thanks

No crashes normally it's a very stable program. I would contact Dave directly where you email him the big files for analysis.

First let me be perfectly clear. The Scorpius cardata program is working, correct? If it is, read on, if it is not, then stop here get that fixed first. I think it is working, but I need to be sure or we'll waste a lot of time.

The best I can do for you is look at some logs and/or your configuration to figure out what's up. Let's start with logs so do the following:
  1. Make sure you're using the latest beta version of the SRMS, it's version 1.8.1.21, I can't help and/or read logs if you're not using this version but it should be very stable even though its a beta
  2. Launch SRMS v1.8.1.21
  3. Go to "file/open database folder". This will open a windows explorer folder you'll need later, just leave it open for now
  4. Go to "option/preferences" and set the "Log Level" to "1"
  5. *Click Accept
  6. Select the "Practice" race (if you need more details on this let me know)
  7. Make sure "Demo mode" is NOT checked and start the race
  8. **If you get the connection issue exit the race and close the SRMS completely
  9. Email me the log file created. It'll be named something like RCDebug.txt and it'll be in the database folder you opened previously.

* NOTE: The log level is not saved. If you want to get me more logs you'll need to set the level every time you open the SRMS
** NOTE: If the practice race works, exit the race and repeat the process, but use a race that has the problem instead of the Practice race. If this is the case it's most certainly a configuration issue in the race you're trying to run causing the SRMS to look for two dongles. I'll have to get your race configuration to figure that out...

This will tell me what the SRMS is doing at startup. It will almost certainly tell me it either can't find any dongles at all or that it was looking for a second one and couldn't find it, but at least we'll know.

I've had this pop up a few times myself. I'm running an older PC with XP.
I've always gotten things working, but since it doesn't happen often I'm not sure exactly how.
Some combo of rebooting, unplugging dongle while shutdown and plugging back in after reboot, switching it to different ports, etc has always done the trick.
Doesn't hurt to try!

OK WE ARE WORKING AGAIN.

Turns out I have to have both dongles pluged in to my PC.

So with only 1 Dongle plugged in and turning off pace car under race set up does not work.

Just a side note: I have not had my track running for 2 years because the Scalixtric track I use The rails rusted out from my damp basement.

I am now back up and running after changing 110' of track.

Thanks for your help.

Hi
As you have not used it in a while I would of thought you would of only needed one dongle ? It's only the latest version of srms that needs two dongles plugged in as one is set to transmit and one to recieve,it's to make some very clever features work in the near future,or not if you don't want them.

A quick RMS question about the car setup menu.
I added my cars + pictures to the "cars available" list, I noticed spectators like to see on screen who is racing which car.

Now my question: when adding a car I can fill text fields and add a picture.
The already available pre made cars in the list have a name and a type description.
But the car "type" text entry field is not there?
For instance:
Name: "Ford GT 40" (this I can change)
Type: "Mega G" (this I cannot change)
How to change that I wonder. Am I overlooking something?
