Hi Guys,
With the new Gen II car chip on its way a test track is required. My existing build was too big for my new man cave so lets remove 7 modules and make a new piece.
Old design was 13.6x4.6. New build is 9.2x4.6.
4 lane routed. 8 pit bays and 1 safety car bay.
Straight is 7.2m long and will be hybrid analogue.

I dont like lane colours to be too obvious or bright, and orange and yellow not my favourite colours.
So Ive used natural (Domino grey), white, blue and purple.
Braid is nickel plated copper non magnetic supplied by Mr Slotcar.
It comes ready to go with double sided tape attached.

Next stage fit flipper assemblies, Lane Brains, lane change and anti collision track LEDs.

Found some time today to install the second Lane Brain in this new track piece. It also shows the joining system and a quick intro to the flipper assemblies. More soon.

Hi Guys,
Fitted off 4 flipper assemblies. Ive added relays to liven flippers for analogue mode. Ive bolted the track joiners and fitted the flipper housings and aluminium checker plate lids. All the flippers have been tested using a 12V supply, To get everything just right took a couple of hours.

So next stage is track decorating this piece then install lapcounter LEF beacons on 4 lanes plus pit lane and pit bay. One LB will handle all this. I want to add a checker board type grid at the same times.
After that theres a bit more track decorations then onto barriers 😊

I need to decorate this one track module before starting the start grid and lap counter. Theres also another module to add Lane brains and flippers to before adding barriers. Lots to do.
Firstly use fine line tape to define ripple strips and grassed areas.
Lightly sand then spray primer.
Gloss white enamel painted to lines and ripple strips.
Green spray paint added to grass areas (before grass is added). This gives a more consistent and more greener grass application.
Next mask up for red paint on ripple strips.
More soon.

Hi Guys,
Im onto the last board to have flippers and electronics. It happens to be track module where the lap counter goes. Its a bidirectional track and its analogue also so not your average lapcounter. The track LEDs will be used for Scorpius and analogue lap counting. I will need the overhead gantry with the sensors eventually for analogue lapcounting. Im thinking of using Scorpius car chips, utilising the photodiode and wireless transmission back to RaceCoordinator.
This module has 4 Lane Brains and 8 flipper assemblies to fit.
Once this module is done it will be time to fire her up.
