Cars arrived today, just in time.

Due to the short time frame, no testing is going to be possible prior to the first stage. The cars will be taken from the box a quick visual check and then run!

The track we will use for the first stage is the SCX Chrono Rally Stage built by UK SCX Distributor 'AEC' for use at public events;

We hope to be able to run the second stage at Gaydon as well, but this is dependant on how the event goes and how busy we are.

The third and possible second stages will be run at the Farnham Club next Wednesday on either the club track or the new Rally stage.

I will not be able to post pics or results on Sunday but will do my best to report stage one/two on Monday.

Any regular SlotRallyGB Championship competitors who are visiting Gaydon and can spare an hour or so are most welcome to come and lend a hand at the SCX display running the proxy cars. I plan to run the cars in the order of the current SCXCPR championship - i.e. the current leader will go first.

Best of luck everyone.

Good to see the cars have arrived in the UK

Just my opinion but, if everything is in such a rush and the cars cars can't be cleaned and fully inspected before the event, they either shouldn't be run or just use this event as a testing session and run the stages at the next club meet ...... it also doesn't sit well having anyone who turns up having a drive ..... as i said just my opinion

Will let you know how we get on. If it turns out that many card do have issues we will possibly use it as a test.

Very little I could do otherwise simply due to lack of time and a fixed event.

Drivers will only be from regular slotrallygb competitors not general public.

Must agree with Gazza and Oldozbloke. Inevitably some cars will need tending to after the last round, shipping and packing and it would be fair to all competitors that there cars are given the best chance of performing to their maximum. If it means being a week late then so be it but.

Just my thoughts!

The proxy race has many aspects that can make it a bit unfair. Having said that I am with gazza about the fact that each stage should be ran by one single person. In fact I think the order of running should be from 1st to last in the series as Jexy will be doing. This is because as you run a stage you get better and better. This will level a bit the field and prevent similar cars to have very different advantages. On the Marrocan stage in my round the times kept getting better (I had not run the Marrocan track for more than 4 months). This force me to re run the stage.

Just to let you all know - we ran one stage at Gaydon today.

Just Jamie and i ran all the cars on the stage. All the cars were visually checked prior to the start, all tyres cleaned with duck tape and only two cars needed any attention to them (one sprung pick up and the other a wheel stuck up in the axle) all the cars ran well, some better than others, wide cars did not like the narrow lanes.

Cars are now back with me and i hope to run two further stages on Wednesday at Farnham club (Stage 2 will be the Ninco club track and Stage 3 will be the very narrow twisty club rally track).

I will post times for stage one in the morning.

Not the ideal way to do it but if Jexy thinks that no cars were at a disadvantage then I guess im happy with it. A proper post race inspection before the next stage might be an idea (im sure you were going to do that anyway) just to make sure that there are no problems with any of the cars.

Stage times from the first stage at Gaydon;

A few comments/notes;
The Ferrari GTO's really did not like this track - the stage is very narrow in places with raised curbs and the cars were too wide.

Car #15 - Renault 5 Turbo - the springs connectors onto the tabs needed re-setting (not enough tension) - i will take apart and fix.

Car #5 - Lancia Stratos - this seems to have an undefined elctrical issue, very jerky, i checked all the obvious areas, but nothing obvious.

All the cars tyres were cleaned prior to the event.

Some small external weights had come off the cars, but not clear who they belong to - some looked like they were fixed with blu tac.

Gareth,

Great job. I wished I was that efficient.

I am happy my car did well being the first to run (one usually becomes significantly faster as one goes along). I confess that I was rather worried about my Celica after seeing it sliding like crazy on the Oregon tracks. I think (hope) that it must have been dirt on the tires.

I suspect the next two stages will see very different results (i.e. me not wining!)

The narrow rally track will really punish the wider cars;

Very tight/twisty and plenty of elevations to deal with.

The club circuit is going to favor the faster cars with it's long straights etc;

Hi All

Not so good for our cars from Wolves maybe stages 2 and 3 will suit ours better

at least the Renault 8 is leading its class.

Gareth

I assume you are in contact with Malcolm at Wolves about car delivery to us

we have scdelued it in for the 3rd June but I noticed on SCX channel you are not running them until Wednesday

Quote "We didn't have time to run Stage 2 & 3 last night so they will now be run next Wednesday 1st June. "

So once again It would be tight for us to run them as we have scheduled with out car checks etc on the 3rd!!!

I would hope we can get them for the following week so that we can run them on the 10th at Wolves club keep us informed Gareth (it is difficult with limited time and help)

To all the other guys involved well done to the front runners last year it was our Ferrari but look at it now!!!

We in the UK are trying to get this back on schedule but due to the US mailing it has slipped. So be patient boys we are trying to get it done properly

One more point it is upto the event organisers on the format run (multiple drivers, length of stage, running order)

Three stages is the requirement (from memory) from the rules and I think everyone has adhered to this.

Roll on stage 2 and 3 this week when this is done watch this channel for the Wolves round 8 with other news to follow!!!!

The final two stages were run last night at the Farnham Club.

Stage two was run on the main club track (Ninco) Blue lane, no brakes, 14v, 45 ohm parma controller run by Graham (pirateslot).

Stage three was run on the club rally track (SCX/Scalex Classic), no brakes, 12v, 45 ohm parma controller run by Nick (Driver#8).

I think the above is correct in terms of how the scores are worked out for the championsip, but i have attached the excel sheet just in case.

A massive thanks to all at Farnham who had to wait until we finished running the cars and for those who stayed late to help. A big
to Jamie Coles who helped me run all three stages.

A few notes on some of the cars;
Generally all the cars run very well, generally speaking the smooth easy to control cars did best (Alpine, Escort, Sierra, 131), the faster cars did well, but becasue of their speed were more enclined to have offs.

The Wolves Ferrari GTO needs serious attention, basically it's become one wheel drive! One of the rear tyres has completely gone off (it looks like the glue has come through the tyre and it has no grip, any time you put the power down the rear just breaks away).

The Anthony Lancia Stratos simply glides off on any corner.

The longer/wider cars didn't go well on the Mountain pass track with tight corners and elevation changes.

Cars are now boxed up and will be handed over to Wolves at the weekend for the next round.
