Just bought this system http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/scx/scx10000.htm and was wondering if there were any proper reviews for it. It is scheduled to be due out late this month but it is currently on backorder. I am currently drawing table plans for it and was wondering if the layout size includes the outer most edges of the track and the accessories that plug into it (i.e. digital control board). Any help, advice, or general words of wisdom would be welcome as this is my first slot car track I have ever owned. Also, would it be feasible for my 3 1/2 year old son to "drive" the cars with supervision?

You got it very cheaply-£259.99 in UK, $303 is £174 so you saved a lot even including postage. I dont know of any reviews but Slik has had a play around with this huge set so a PM to him might answer your question.

If money has not left your account yet, it might be worth considering the other digital systems due out at around the same time (Carrera and Scalextric) - mainly regarding compatibility with other slot cars that you WILL want to purchase in coming months! (on the other hand - this set could be seen to save you lots of money!)

But SCX does come with a 'low power/low speed' setting, perfect for reducing number of and damaging effects when kids/drunken friends drive your cars!

Text and photo review sounds like a good idea. I will do this as soon I get it.
MR MAX....I actually got it cheaper than that. For some reason they had it for $282 several weeks ago and then I got some kind of volume discount and the shipping was around $8.00 or so. Here is the actual email receipt for the track.
Item Qty Description Retail Hobbylinc
scx10000 1 SCX DIGITAL SYS ST 20.3' $399.99 $282.79
--------
Subtotal (you saved $117.20) $282.79
Volume Discount -$14.14
Shipping and Handling $7.50
--------
Total $276.15

I also want to thank everyone for the replies as I am sure I will be back for more questions later. Also check out my other hobby listed under my "Profile" homepage link. The slotcars are a more feasible hobby for me to share with my sons and also something I have been interested in for quite some time.
