Does the SCX basic set, straight out of the box, have a way of determining race length and who has won the race?

Is it possible to join SCX Digital track to SCX analogue track and run digital cars on the whole circuit?

Is SCX digital reliable?

How does throttle response compare with analogue (I use an SCX Pro Parma controller)

That's about it for now, I'll be at Gaydon, but will be racing so I'll try and find the time to look at the SCX digital stand.

I'm not an SCXD expert, but I've read quite a bit about it. Some or all of this might be completely wrong. I am admittedly a Scalextric Digital user, but I try to keep informed on all the systems.

1) No, I don't think so. I think you need the lap counting and/or timing accessories to run races. The pit box might have basic "in the lead" indication, but that's it.
2) No. SCX Analog (the black colored track) and SCX Digital (the gray colored track) are NOT compatible in any way. They don't even make adapters for it.
3) In my humble and personal opinion, it's not. Stuff often doesn't work right out of the box, not to mention break downs shortly thereafter. The good news is that, at least in the US, the main customer service rep will just send out a replacement product, whatever it is, no questions asked.
4) Digital throttles in general will have a different feel than analog, just like different analog throttles will feel different from each other. You can get a slot.it controller for digital systems, if you don't like the stock throttle, but that's the only other choice. I've never actually driven SCX Digital, so can't make a direct comparison.

I'm sure René will be in shortly to tell you that SCXD is wonderful, if he hasn't already. ;-)

Pretty much what Mr Flippant said.

Its worth getting the Pit Box set - which can run lap based races without additional accessories. The basic set cannot count laps or determine the winners. Neither have a start sequence.

on the track, not only are there no adaptors, but non-SCX digital (or the new universal track) track systems can damage your cars since the slots are too shallow for the extending keel mechanism.

Can't really say about reliability although my impression was the system was generally reliable, although the lap counting sometimes has 'quirks'!

At the recent German Toy Fair the new SCX (analogue) track was announced (which is the same as SCX digital) and adapter section were on show

it's not fair to compare digital and analogue. the two are very different.
which scx parma do you have? the one with the frame and heat sink sticking out of the top?
no the scx digital controllers are not as robust as a parma.

I am no expert either, but from what I have read you are correct. The black is an analog piece and so does not carry the 'powerline'. This is the seperate power circuit that is unique to SCXD and powers the accessories like lapcounter and laptimer. Track power is not used for accessories. Therefore if using both the SCXD track and the new compatible analog pieces you will HAVE to use only SCXD pieces up to any accessories (if you have any, else ignore) and analog compatible pieces after that.

You can use the SCX analog track pieces on a SCX Digital track.
You just need to remember to put the lapcounter, chronometer and so on in a place where they are connected to the power.

Think Bryan Young did a video on youtube about it.

Hello everyone,
I'm an newbie to scx digital slotrace . As a kid I had a tiny raceslot, now my kids have a carrera , but I wanted more. So i bought a scx digital with pitstop. My question is :can you connect sxalextric tracks with the scx digital using scalextric C8222 and /or Scx A10015X200 transformer track ? I 've done some internet research , and if i'm not mistaken , you can attach different tracks to scx digital. Can someone confirm this please ? Because if you add analogue track you must connect it after the digital accessoires like your lapcounter or must you attach the new universal scx track?
