Heads up!

News from Bachman (UK Distributors for SCX/Tecnitoys)

"We have been advised by our friends in Tecnitoys that the new and exciting features of the Digital "POWER LINE" system will not be compatible with any Digital sets purchased from Spain last year."

"The fantastic new "Power Line" system has been developed from the original concept, but has increased versatility and playability, making it even greater fun for all racers."

I have yet to see the new SCX Digital system, but i understand that the system has been updated to include connections for new accessories.

As soon as i have the new system i will let you know.

And here are photos of the rest:

underside of cars (which are the same, except the logo)

The three cars that come in the set.

Lap counter tower with new logo

New start track section with red connection

New box art with new logo

What's it like?

Give us a chance! Slik is going to do another of his great videos of the new system.

A full report will follow in the next NSCC journal.

Hi Mc Laren

Yes the older Spanish system (sold under the Scalextric brand name in Spain) is different to the SCX (UK Version).

Why?

Following the first release in Spain various updates and improvements have been made to the system, this is the result.

I understand that it's not restricted to the UK, the SCX version ships world wide (apart from Spain).

Gareth,

Is it possible to use the new track with the old track, ie is it plug compatible?

Though even if it does, obviously the new powerline won't work.

I'm just wondering whether someone with the older Spanish version can buy the new track to expand the circuit.

Thanks,

Hi John

Apperently not, but i have not tried it myself. I have both so i will give it a go.

The metal connectors on the side of the peg (next to the slot) are there.

Evenything else looks similar, but i'm going off the notice from Bachmann.

I hope to set it up on Wednesday and have a play, i'll let you know.

Space permitting it might be at Milton Keynes also.

SCX (Technitoys) actually announced this change in February of this year. I talked to them about it, but they didn't want it mentioned.

I think the rush (read: race) to bring out a Digital set was the driving force behind the first release, but they saw after the public got their hands on it that there were a few problems and have worked to fix this. It also explains why we have seen so few sets available up to now. I'm sure SCX didn't want to flood the market with something that would be redundant within the year of buying it.

Mc Laren - Yes Milton Keynes Swapmeet Sunday 19th September. (Still to be confirmed as space is an issue)

Nuro - like you i knew about it, but could not say anything, now it's been released it's OK for me to say. - I wonder if the Spanish sets will be changed?

If you are thinking of buying a set it's probably best to ask just to be on the safe side which set your getting. I know some retailers have got Spanish sets for sale.

There wasn't any secrecy regarding the new track system.

We were informed of it back in January if not before and there was no attempt to hide the difference let alone keep it quiet. In fact quite the opposite, as SCX have been using the improvements as a selling point.

Anyway, whilst it does raise questions for customers in Spain, I don't see it as being relevant here. We'll only ever have the new system, so it shouldn't cause any problems.

In what web have they extracted these photos?

Where there is more information about the series power line?

Since in SCX's official page there is no information in the matter.

Well, I hope that this Englishman extracted of the translator understands himself well.

Thank you

Don't you just love translator software!

Mr.M

No offence to anybody intended, but I am crying here! Just my sad sense of humour, I suppose!
