I have a number of scx rally cars that are great cars but are slower than scally cars.am i correct in hearing that to speed them up all i have to do is fit a larger pinion..the cars in question are Fiat 131 Abarth ,sierra cosworth and a mk2 escort.i think they have a 10 pinion and i should upgrade to an 11.if this is correct would i need to purchase these slot it SIPI11 pinions and would i require any special tooling.would i be able to remove pinions without tooling please

More teeth on the pinion will give a higher top speed, less acceleration and less brakes.
If you gain more time in top speed than you loose in acceleration and braking, it'll be faster round a lap.

The change can make a car faster on some circuit layouts and slower than others.

Push fit pinions are normally removed with a pinion puller - I'll leave it to others to tell you their favourite make of puller.
