More teeth on the pinion will give a higher top speed, less acceleration and less brakes.
If you gain more time in top speed than you loose in acceleration and braking, it'll be faster round a lap.
If you gain less time in top speed than you loose in acceleration and braking, it'll be slower round a lap.
The change can make a car faster on some circuit layouts and slower than others.

Push fit pinions are normally removed with a pinion puller - I'll leave it to others to tell you their favourite make of puller.
