Thanks to SCX there is going to be a major slot car competition at this year's Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone - see the SlotForum discount prices HERE!.

Steve and the team from SCX have raided their toy cupboard (and one or two more besides) to create the biggest and most challenging layout possible, and here it is:

A large chunk of Staffordshire becomes a race track. Coming soon to Silverstone!

Measuring a thumping 10 metres long and 5 metres wide this track will be home to an epic knock-down drag-out slot tournament. The track is digital with lane cars provided in the form of Audi and Peugeot LMP cars.

It's a simple event format: running heats, quarter-finals, semi-finals and a Grand Final. There will be prizes provided for the winners and some extremely high-profile guests popping in to say hello.

Full details of the prizes and race format will follow shortly. We can, however, give you a hefty clue about who will be presenting the prizes... say hello, ladies:

I remember when Hawaiian Tropic girls wore knitted bikinis.

My favourite were the Giacobazzi girls circa 1980.

I have photos of the Giacobazzi girls - in 'The Glamorous World of Grand Prix Racing' book. If the shoe was on the other foot then doubtless there would be a massive lawsuit from FOM.

Meanwhile, these girls say thank you for remembering them!

Now that's good hair!

Do you know where-abouts in Silverstone the track will be set up?
Alfetta
Will this be happening on all 3 days or just the Sunday. Ill be shooting the main event, but unsure if I have time for this sadly

Also this will be an interesting way to see if enough people can be gathered for a proper long distance race
Not really Ed, it says it's heats and finals.

Only if your ticker can take it. I've got to go to Dunsfold Wings & Weels in August, Chelsea Auto Legends on September 4 and then do two days at Silverstone (they won't be there on Friday)... My missus is taking out extra life insurance!

Hi Alfetta,

The main public entertainment area will be on the old Paddock Club hard standing just over the bridge at the main entrance. Near the now sadly-neglected Bridge Bend (sniff)

The track will be open all three days but the main competition will take place on Saturday.

Heats, quarters, semis and final for prizes will take place on Saturday 10th September only. The rest of the time the track will be open to the public. And there will be a second track on site from France called Esprit Slot, which has been to all the Le Mans Series events so far this year. Here's a little taster...

Heres the provisional timetable for the 1/1 scale cars http://www.lemans-series.com/en/s52_circui...&annee=2011
Can you post a proposed timetable for Saturday please?
Hi Ed,

Steve from SCX is on holiday until next week, when we'll confirm the format. It depends largely on the number of entries.

A few pictures of the track for Silverstone.

We will be running it in Analogue form but with a mix of SCX Analogue and SCX Digital track..

Using the new connector piece that joins the Analogue to Digital.

Have seen the press release about this, quietly smouldering I cant make Thursday and possibly beat 1 of the highest profile drivers on the grid for the 1000km...
Latest news: Esprit Slot has pulled out so SCX is the only game in town for slotters at the weekend.

Yes indeed, Lucas Ordonez will be racing on it this Thursday afternoon when he takes on all-comers from the press centre. As many will know, Lucas got his big break in racing through the Nissan GT Academy - a worldwide search for a star from the world of computer sim racing (a bit like X Factor only less irritating).

Lucas has gone from karaoke racer to fully-fledged Nissan endurance ace, and so he is going to tackle the 'original racing game' on SCX's enormous track.

Many thanks to Steve and SCX for allowing us to run non-Spanish Nissans for the event.

Was nice to meet you, pity it did not work out exactly to plan. It all seemed a bit lastminute.com and there were no signs in the media centre advising of the Nissan race. Doing anything when the main race series are out on the 1/1 scale track is never a good idea! Also the media/PR/press officer for 1 of the teams is a big slotracing fan and would have brought the 3 drivers from his team over, 1 of which is exceptionally well known, a former tame racing driver and would have been a massive draw.

Its always more difficult when you have to rely on others too sadly
