My local shop has one of these SCX/Matchbox F40's on sale.
My question is are they good runners. I know they are about 8yrs old but it still looks good even if their are stickers instead of tampo. I recently got the a older LolaFord indy car and I found it to be a lot of fun. For $29 US is it worth it? Or will it take a lot to get her going?

Which one is it 58Fury?

As it is branded Matchbox it is one of the Chinese built ones.

If it's in a red cardboard box it's non magnet and wired guide.

If it's in a plastic case it is magnet and sprung guide.

It seems that for some reason when they changed to the magnet type they became slower and noisier like a lot of current SCX cars.

The non mag ones are pretty good straight out of the box, they do benefit from some lower profile front tyres to cure a slight de-slotting problem but I often run one at the Farnham club against the Proslot Ferraris and 911s with some success.

They definitely get my

Yeah, Its in the cardboard/cylyphane?(spelling) box from China. I don't think it has a mag either. They also have a purple/pinkish Jaguar in the same style box. All are on sale. I really Like the Lola/Ford indy car and was hopeing the F40 was as much fun.

Jag is from the SRS2 range. Spaceframe type chassis with steering, mild magnet and hotter motor.

Both getters IMO but not to race against each other.

F40 is probably plain black, white "Totip" or blue "Pilot". Am I right?

Now, I'm not so sure.

Red race #60, I would have thought would be pre Tyco Matchbox, but then very shiny chrome wheels normally is a sign of a Chinese car.

It may just be that they carried on offering the red car after Tyco took over.

Anyway, now I think you should definitely get it, and post some pics to satisfy my curiosity. I think if you enjoyed the Lola Ford, you should have fun with this one.

If you are discribing the car i think you are, I have 2 of them (I've repainted and fitted different wheels to both) Anyhow they are OK not Great but not bad. I don't use them much as the newer cars are so much faster. Mine didn't come with magnets and had wired pickups.

They did have a slight deslotting problem but the new wheels took care of that.

If they it is cheap i would buy it. If
i remeber rightly i paid about £15 each for them when they first came out.

Well I was at the shop again today to look at getting the F40. It is the red #1 f40 with catermaran? on the spoiler! They also lowered the price to $19US for it and the pink Jaguar SRS? I was going to grab it at that price but the new Carrera's are just too good to pass up for $30.
