As promised press photos of the latest SCX car.

There has been a little confusion regarding the front wheels of this model (if they steer or not), my understanding (and looks like it in the photos) is that they do not.

I should get a review model next month, will keep you upto date.

Comments please

Gareth

PS Thanks Julian for putting the photos on his web site for me.

Nice pics - are these personal or press ones?

Seeing as Scalextric produced this livery to such a high standard and released it before SCX (dunno about in Spain) then not sure this will do well, in UK at least. Suppose this will be grabbed by those who prefer a car that is easy to set-up to run well w/o magnets.

Although I like SCX (they are the dominant manafacturer in my collection) I'll pass on this one. However the SCX Opel IMHO is better than than the Scalextric version.

I run a DTM class at home at have spent many hours getting my Ninco, SCX and Scaly DTMs to turn similar lap times (all with min magnet) - just about got it right but they all handle very differently.

These are press release shots they send me.

I'll take my own for the reviews and articles when they send the cars.

I agree about (the other brand!!) making it first and it will be interesting to compare like for like.

Hmm !
Does not look as good as the Scaley one but...

I can feel a Comparison coming on !

I too prefer the SCX Astras by a long way, but then I feel the Astras were the most disappointing Scalextric release of the Sport Range so far.

I just picked up the black "other make's" car this morning to match the red and silver I already had. Can't believe it took me this long to get it.

Shame SCX needed more time to get theirs out. Who knows... I might have had purchased these instead...

Thanks for that, Jexy and Jules - put that way, it sounds like a firm of solicitors , or maybe a high class Escort Agency!

It's certainly a very attractive car, but I am even more deeply impresed with the photographic quality of the close up - it is outstandingly good.

Fix things?

You should know me better than that after witnessing my super gluing on the grid on Wednesday night. Funnily, in the middle of the night I suddenly realised I hadn't given Gareth his glue back. Saw him at Liphook and fortunately he'd returned it to himself.

Anyway, I bought a Scalextric (there, I said it) Merc when they first came out and thought it marvelous, but have to say this looks as good. I'd say not quite so nice finish, but better, bigger wheels. No doubt it will handle very well without the superfluous ferrous metal bits and once a different livery comes I'll get an SCX one.
