SCX have revamped their packaging, as well as corporate and brandname logos. Not a massive change. The yellow is gone from the brand logo and the "X" symbol in the digital product range has a little more emphasis. The corporate Tecnitoys logo has changed too:

Here is the digital "X" logo design:

The new logos look very classy. I like the black-to-red gradient, the SCX font and the sheen on the checkered flag. Kudos to the designer. The Technitoys logo also makes clever use the power icon as the letter O.

I agree with LMP regarding the lamp covers on the Audi R8. But otherwise that is one nicely done model. I'm going to have to pick one up.

The new SCX imagery is an improvement if a little close to Ninco or vice versa, regardless of the prominent use of Red, I agree that it's a step in the right direction. Whereas with Scalextric, I'm not sure about the inclusion of purple in the packaging (a step backwards).

To be frank, I think Tamiya leaves all slot car manufacturers for dead presentation wise, with the beautifully illustrated boxes; there is simply no comparison.

QUOTE Would any of you put your own money into the Techi-Toy empire right now?

With sharp branding like that they look much more the part than they ever did before. Much more professional. Now all they have to do is change that damn stupid way of nailing the cars to the plinth.

Odd that R8 number thing - it was the Veloqx cars that had red numerals at Le Mans.

Er, maybe your photo isn't from Le Mans!

I've scoured my Le Mans annual and only find photos of said car running with black numerals and dirty great "Audi Japan" text across the rear wing - not a website url as per your photo.

Ha, ha! Touche!

Plus, that corner doesn't look like a Le Mans curve to me but I've only been twice.

Steadily improving the projected quality of SCX presentation and packaging can do them nothing but good. But It would be very revealing to know what percentage of cost is involved in this particular part of the overall product.

Also, how much of a difference it might make if Hornby and Tecnitoys could arrive at a sensible resolution to the customer confusion caused by the shared use of the 'Scalextric' word!
