Hi...

I know I wasn't the only one waiting for this car to be released...

Well its now available on the scalextric website... Link

So after slipping out of the scaley 2011 catalogue... Disappearing from the website... it finaly comes available with no fanfare.... odd!

Grab them while you can! once the senna movie thingy comes out later this year they are bound to fly off the shelves... I heard that ron dennis cried after watching the documentary well lets hope aa few royaalties will cheer him up!

Had a quick look around and it appears that the Senna car is not really out there yet, everywhere is pre-order.
The image on the Scalextric web-site looks like a computer generated picture.

Looks like you'll have to keep waiting.

Seems a bit strange... Scalextric haven't even released images of it yet.... And none of the stockists have stock yet...

Right, need 37 pounds. Quickly

Ordered some other cars not thinking that this car would come so soon...

Cheers,

So it really does exist...

The car does raise question something is missing it just doesn't feel right... of course obviously its all in the words...

So despite the stealth marketing you really can buy this car... and at least the 1993 Williams has almost a partner to race with...

When you look at the real thing (A Mclaren MP4-6) but not sure which year this one was from.... should tag my photo's better

Not sure where i stand on the tabacco problem... not sure the words Marlboro would make me rush out and buy a packet of their cigarettes...

but this car had twin liveries due to evolving european legislation that banned tobacco sponsorship depending in what country it was racing in... one livery with words and with black stripes in their place...

The UK was quite late to the party with banning tobacco advertising...

SCX version has the stripes... the Scaleley version has niether... mmmm

So is it better to leave the car as produced or apply the Marlboro branding and ruin its secondhand value...

Both are 'must have' in my eyes. Who is going to produce the missing decals for Mclaren

That's an 1989 Mclaren, and the Scalextric model is the 1991 model. But it illustrates the point just as well. the guy doing the Mclaren livery designed one for 1988, and then seemed to have gone on a 4-year holiday!

I'd like something there instead of it just being blank, even if just the word 'Mclaren'. A quick glance at a picture of my 1992 model shows this to be the case. Shame Scalextric.

Bit pricey buying direct from Scalextric isn't it?
£36.99 plus another £5.88 for P&P seems a bit too much in my opinion.
Surely buying direct from the manufacturer should be the cheapest way to do it?

Not if they want to get dealers to stock it!

Yeah... took it myself.... it's stitting on my coffee table!

I agree with you about the price... but the lack of marketing surrounding this release makes me think it may not be picked up by all stockists...

Guess it's my way of ensuring they know there is a market for these types of release...

** EDIT **

For those that may not be aware the scaley website once you have built up enough "points" you get 10% off and free postage...

Its all about how much you spend on your hobby... 5 points for each £1 for the first £300 you spend then 10 points from that point onwards... so spend another £250... and you get to "Gold status"

Once you have that you get £4 back for each car you buy and free postage!... so the real cost of the car from sclaey ends up being £33.30 and free postage.... plus a £40 discount on the bag.
