This topic is about How To do the Set Up and Tuning of BRM's latest Metal Chassis 1:24 scale Hard Bodied cars, which come with lots of adjustable settings.

A few of us have recently purchased the Aluminium Chassis 1:24 cars from BRM. They have lots of adjustments for suspension, ride height, roll, and (if I understand correctly) adjusting the slot guide. The problem is, despite BRM giving us these goodies, they've not published any guidance in setting up the RTR cars.

Apparently, the Kit Car versions of the Aluminium Chassis cars come with both an assembly guide and a "car setup manual (English)" which tells you what all the adjustments are about, and how to tune the cars. But, for those of us who purchased the ready-to-fun cars, we can only guess.

I'm hoping that someone out there can point us towards a webpage where the various adjustments are explained, or even post a copy of the user manual.

I had an issue with a Ferrari. The motor pod and the chassis plate weren't in the same plane (the car sagged to the left). I posted to SCI forum and Alan intimated this was a problem on all aluminum chassised cars. Fix was to put a shim between the chassis and the suspension mount.
SCI forum seems to be down at this time.

At one time I came across a German website. The host had videos of the Trans-Am cars, from an unboxing to installing a Carrera chip. Memory fails if there were any tuning tips.

just unboxed 5 of them and did a quick run on our local circuit.

Escort-front and rear wheels rub on body

Mini-front wheels rub on body and bumper

Renault-Very noisy meshing

Camaro-Runs very well but slides to the left under braking

Mustang-No issues whatsoever

They still need to be set up, so any further advice would be great.

I had the front wheels rubbing on the mini, the spare tyres are lower profile than what are fitted, also loosened all body screws a full turn, lubed front axle and guide and it made it a little better.

Wicker Bill. The new BRM chassis's are all metal/aluminium - I don't think they have offered one for the 512/917 yet. The problem is with the plastic motorpod and the only way to resolve it is too add shims between the chassis and motorpod to compensate

Perhaps the OP needs to state exactly which cars he's working with.
The TA and mini car chassis are "all metal/aluminum" but the Ferraris have also been called metal chassis even though the motor pod is plastic. There is a spare parts aluminum plate/plastic motor pod upgrade for the 917.

A conversation with Mr. Smith this evening concerning the manual: the information is very basic.
